Many
of you are aware that we have a French Version of THE ELIJAH LIST. The French List
is beginning to come alive --like a sleeping giant. My French-Canadian friend, Martine,
got a copy of what you are about to read and she wept for 45 minutes in intercession.
This article and report about a conference (with testimonies) that is going on this
weekend in Montreal is so important, that we wanted to also rush it to our English
readers. It's already gone out on the French List. Please forward it to everyone
you know who is either French or Canadian or who loves to them or loves to pray
for them. That should be just about all of you. God is breathing on the French and
Canada connection and HE wants to do amazing things in both France and Canada. Let
me say this...In the USA there is some tension between America and the French as
of this writing. But God is not irritated or angry at the French or Canadian People.
He loves them with an everlasting love and He is at work to do HIS good pleasure
in both Canada and French. Let's join God and be on His side!

Teresa and Steve,
I was just about to write to both of you and thank you for posting this. I went
to the website and have been reading (and crying) for the last 45 minutes or so.
This is well worth the read...maybe the English version should be posted on Elijah
List as well?
Thanks a million.
Blessings,
Martine

Introduction
by Teresa Neumann -- Editor of the FRENCH VERSION of THE ELIJAH LIST:
An Important History Between Canada and France
-- before you read this article -- It will make the article make more sense to you!
From: The Neumann's [mailto:elijahelie@qwest.net]
Sent: Friday, July 09, 2004
As the editor of La Liste d'Élie, the French version of the Elijah List, (to
subscribe to the French version of THE ELIJAH LIST, write to Teresa at:
elijahelie@qwest.net) I want to share
with our English-speaking readers the following prophecies concerning France and
Quebec, Canada. To grasp the significance of this current move of God, a basic understanding
of the history of these two nations is vital.
In a nutshell, as the Reformation swept through Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries,
it was impossible for countries to remain spiritually ambivalent. England took the
lead in embracing Protestantism, whereas France -- and also Spain -- whose monarchies
were heavily Catholic, remained staunchly aligned with Rome. Bloody religious wars
followed, especially in France, where John Calvin and his fellow Protestants called,
"Huguenots," were severely persecuted.
During this time, France sent many explorers, missionaries, and traders to Canada,
settling predominately in the eastern provinces. They called their land, "New France"
and under the direction of Samuel Champlain, built their capital in the province
of Quebec. Quebec City, east of Montreal, perched atop the Plains of Abraham overlooking
the St. Lawrence River, is today a UNESCO World Heritage site, the most "European"
city on the continent, and the only walled city in North America. It is the heart
of French-speaking Canada.
Meanwhile, the only North American haven for those Huguenots in France who were
able to escape the mass extermination waged against them, were the American colonies,
as Catholic New France (Canada) forbid Protestants entrance. This explains why,
today, Quebecois are predominately of French Catholic descent, whereas most French
Huguenot descendents reside in the U.S.
As the English defeated French troops in the American colonies and pushed north
into Canada, British troops pressed in along the Canadian eastern seaboard as well,
in a pincer type maneuver, uprooting countless French settlements. The Acadians
-- descendants of French settlers in Nova Scotia -- were deported to the American
colonies and Europe, in what is known as the infamous Acadian Expulsion of 1755.
Many of their descendants, known as 'Cajuns,' settled in New Orleans.
In 1759, the English unexpectedly won a major battle fought on the Plains
of Abraham, and the following year, France signed the Treaty of Paris, transferring
ownership of New France to England. As a result, the English no longer allowed them
to form communities, and French Canadians were oppressed, persecuted, and often
treated as second-hand citizens.
Que Diue vous benisse! (God Bless You!)

"The inhabitants are desperate, they have sacrificed for the conservation of
the country and they end up ruined without any resources." -- François Gaston,
duc de Lévis -- 11:00 am, 9 May 1760 - The Quebec City Ramparts
Quote:
"Hundreds of us have been gathered on the cliffs overlooking Quebec City for days.
We anxiously scan the horizon for the first sign of a ship sailing up the St. Lawrence.
Almost a year has passed since the English first began their bombardment of Quebec
City. After two months, little was left but smoldering ruins. Then, on September
13, after a short battle on the Plains of Abraham, the city fell to the English
forces.
But we, les Canadiens, will not give up our dream of New France that easily. For
150 years, we have sown in blood and tears to birth the vision for this new nation
of Canada. We cannot let go.
So we mustered our troops this spring and, led by Lévis, repelled the English invaders.
They have retreated and now sit holed up inside the walled city.
And together, we wait. Our fates bound in the answer to one simple question: which
ship will come?
The cry goes out - a ship is on the horizon! We strain to see which flag is flying
on its mast...
No! It cannot be! In one instant our hearts are crushed. It is the Lowenstoff, an
English frigate. France's small flotilla has been easily turned back at the mouth
of the St. Lawrence by a large English fleet.
We have been abandoned.
We have been betrayed.
We have lost our hope."

A Report from Canadian Intercessors in Strasbourg,
France, May 30 - June 6, 2004
Conference speakers included Samuel Rhein, Roger and Sue Mitchell (from England),
Michael Schiffman (from Germany), and James Goll. Before each meeting, there was
a discerning time with about 30-40 leaders, where they sensed the direction in which
the Lord was leading for the meetings.
David Demian of Quebec was invited to speak the first night; he delivered a message
on the corporate death, which leads to the corporate unity, that must precede a
release of true corporate authority. As he finished, the Lord gave him a prophetic
word and a call to declare over the nation of France.
France, Once Again, Will Bring the Presence of
God to the Nations
"There's a fast that's coming to which the Lord will lead the church in France;
and the leadership and many nations in Europe will join in. And I believe [there
is] a sceptre of the favour of God that is about to be released; and from that moment
on, there will be a journey that France and Europe will walk in, with the help of
England and the help of other nations, to redeem back what the enemy has done through
humanism in France.
"And the Lord will bring back the spirit of 'walking with God.' And man will never
be the centre anymore. But God will be the centre. God will grant France the favour
to enter into the presence of the King. And I believe the Lord will reveal to you
the steps; and what the enemy has intended for evil is going to come back against
him. And, France, once again, will bring the presence of God to the nations; and
France will rise again, not to bring humanism, but will bring the real thing - the
presence of God.
"And I want to say to you, France: your children have come back to you; Quebec has
come back to you. Because in Quebec there is a hope in a new way. They have lived
in a hope deferred for many years. But, in Canada, the Lord restored hope to Quebec.
And I want to say this, 'Watch out England!' and 'Watch out France!' because your
kids are going to rise up and come back and hold the hands of the parents and say,
'Again! Again, the Glory of the Lord will come!' And what the Lord has intended
will never be aborted, France.
"Today, is the seed that falls into the ground. Today, is your decision; 'if I die,
I die.' But I will not live and see the name of my God mocked in this nation any
more. Lord, here am I. And Esther said to Mordecai, 'Call for a fast and I will
fast' because it is the favour of God that will open the doors.
"Push Once More!"
"So, Father, in the name of Jesus, whatever you have deposited for us in Canada,
even the small measure of unity you have given us, we come here on French soil,
and we say to France and Europe, you will make it! We come from Canada as a midwife
for aiding France and Europe to their destiny. We thought we would never make it,
but He who helped us is able to help you. Push once more. Don't quit now. One more
time. Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask for your Holy Spirit, that helps us to
give birth.
"Come, Holy Spirit, and give these dead wombs strength again. And they didn't consider
their old age or the dead womb of Sarah, because they believed against the impossible.
He is ABLE. Even these wombs Lord, that are tired of pushing and pushing, give supernatural
strength, supernatural faith, supernatural hope, supernatural encouragement; birth
it in France and in Europe at this time, oh Lord.
"So Father, we commit this to you, because this is not about a meeting, an evening.
This is not about now, this is about a commitment: if I die, I die, but I will present
myself to the King! This is about whatever until...Whatever it takes until the glory
of the Lord comes back. Whatever it takes, Lord, we give you the freedom to awaken
us in the night, to interrupt our schedule in the day; Father we make ourselves
available to you, whatever you are pleased to do."
"And From this Country Will Flow a River of Humility,
of Living Faith in God"
After this, David called the leaders of France/Europe to come on stage and call
forth the Esthers. Samuel Rhein came forward to speak on behalf of the French leaders,
and he prayed:
"If we are born for such a time as this, Lord our lives are yours. And we come to
reclaim the favour of the sceptre of the Lord, just as the intercessors ask for
the favour so that people would not be destroyed.
"Lord, we ask for the salvation of France. Lord we reclaim the salvation of our
nation. And, Lord, we want to say to you, if we stand in your way, Lord, remove
us. Awaken a hunger for death to you in our lives - so that your life and your salvation
can flow in the streets of our nation. May pride and independence and ambition be
put to death today. We reclaim the sentence of death (for our flesh) that the life
of Jesus will flow in our streets.
"And from this country will flow a river of humility, of living faith in God, so
that France will be known again, not because of the perfume brands, but because
of the aroma of the name of Jesus. We declare a new day and a new perfume in this
nation."
"You Are Rediscovering the Crème de la Crème of
France...Because God is in the Business of Healing and Restoring All Things"
On Saturday morning, the Canadian team was asked to share about the journey in Canada
and the Homecoming. David Demian first shared very briefly about the journey in
Canada. Then Samuel Rhein, the French leader, shared this small anecdote about when
he had come to Canada (for a Watchmen Leadership gathering of Quebec and Ontario)
in April 2003.
"I don't know if you have ever thought of the pain of a father losing a child. Last
year, I was invited to come to Canada and this is exactly the cry that came to my
heart: the lost child is found again. And the Spirit of God told me, 'You are rediscovering
the crème de la crème of France.'
"I had no clue of the history of the Francophones in Canada. And when I first arrived,
even before the first meeting, I went for a walk with Alain [Caron, a pastor from
Gatineau]. And in the course of the conversation, he said, 'You know, we the French...'
And I looked at him, and I was horrified!
And I said, 'What are you talking about - you are not French, you are Canadian!'
And he looked at me and said, 'You're hurting my heart.'
"The Father's heart is working to gather His children, that we will be His family.
Not just because of the persecution or our foolishness. Not just because of the
religious wars. Not because of our sins - but because God is in the business of
healing and restoring all things."
"Who Are We? What is Our Destiny?"
Then Alain, who had been translating for Samuel, shared the history of the abandonment
with the people in France. As he shared, the Spirit of God began moving on the French
people, and many started weeping openly, and even crying out. Alain ended by saying,
"It is one thing to be conquered by the hostile army of England, but it was another
thing to feel abandoned by your parents, your family. This has marked our hearts.
We have become an orphaned people. We have looked for our identity since then. Who
are we? What is our destiny?"
With this, Odette Menard, a pastor from Quebec, came to share about how this abandonment
was still affecting the French Canadian people today.
"For years, as Quebecois, we have been trying to find our identity in Christ. Praying,
prophesying, declaring over and over again. But one year ago, in my church, we had
a meeting and suddenly the Spirit of God came on the room and on the fathers in
the room. And they began to shout and cry, 'Papa, I forgive you because you were
not there for me. Because you never told me that you loved me. Because you never
told me that I am important in your eyes.' And for two hours, no one in the church
could move. Everyone was crying out in pain.
Free To Pursue Your Destiny -- As French People!
"And when I look at people in Quebec, no matter who they are, I see on the face
of every Francophone person, this pain. A rejection and self-hatred that has caused
one of two reactions: either people have disengaged and pulled back, or they have
reacted with strong rebellion and revolt.
"We are French, and so we are a passionate people. We are people of the heart. And
we need to love, because that is our destiny; that is part of our inheritance as
French people. To love. To feel the passion of the Lord's heart for His body and
to express it. And that is why I believe the enemy has fought so hard to keep us
under this spirit of rejection.
"We need to be set free from this spirit of abandonment, these chains, that we may
find the confidence that God wants to give us. And we know that you hold a key to
seeing a release. And what God is preparing in Montreal this summer, we know this
is very important. You, France, mom and dad, are coming to visit us! And everything
is going to change.
"You know, before I came here and thought about the Homecoming, I was excited for
French Canadians. But now, being here with you, I am excited for you. God is going
to do something, not just in Canada, but in France. A curse is about to be lifted
off both our people. And we are going to be free in a new way, to pursue our destiny,
as French people!"
As Odette finished speaking, the crowd rose to its feet in a standing ovation. Someone
ran forward and handed her a French flag as the crowd cheered even more!
******** Prayer Points ********
We know that God began an important step on this trip to France, a step of preparing
the hearts of French leaders and French believers to embrace what the Lord wants
to do this summer through the Homecoming. We want to thank you so much for your
prayers for this trip and we want to encourage you that now, more than ever, we
must press in to the fullness of God's purposes for the Homecoming this summer.
1. Please pray for a spirit of revelation and for "hearing ears" as the vision
of the Homecoming is shared.
2. Please pray for complete provision to be released, for all the leaders from
France and Quebec in particular, and for all those who feel in their hearts the
Lord is calling them to come.
If you have any words you would like to share with us concerning France and this
time, please submit them to us at listen@theshield.ca
(also send them to Teresa Neumann, editor of the French Elijah List at:
elijahelie@qwest.net). We will be
compiling words we have received and communicating regularly with you as we progress
on this prayer initiative.
