Danielle Dixon: Heaven Is a Real Place

Danielle Dixon, Queensland, Australia
Apr 12, 2026

Over the years, many people have asked me questions about Heaven. The Bible says a lot about it, but today I'm sharing from more than twenty-five years of my own prophetic experiences and encounters. My heart is simply to offer insight and help take away the fear of death.

Often being asked how I received these prophetic experiences into Heaven's realm, I will try to explain. I've had what I can only describe as visions and night visions—some while in the heavy presence of God, seeing with the eyes of the heart, where I have been fully awake and fully aware. Some of these experiences have lasted for a time, while others have been brief glimpses or impressions of Heaven. I would also add, I do not claim to have seen every part or facet of Heaven, only what Jesus has revealed to me.

Encounters with Heaven Are Life Changing

These encounters completely changed my life. I believe they were given to bring comfort to those who have lost loved ones and to help others understand what awaits us when we leave this world.

Prophetic experiences can take many forms, reflecting the ways God has always spoken to His people throughout Scripture. However, I want to make it very clear: Prophetic experiences are never meant to establish doctrine; only Scripture can do that. (Photo via Rawpixel)

Throughout history, God's people have been able to glimpse beyond the veil. Today, more and more are sharing these kinds of encounters. We see the account of Paul in Scripture:

"I have to talk about myself, even if it does no good. But I will keep on telling about some things I saw in a special dream and that which the Lord has shown me. I know a man who belongs to Christ. Fourteen years ago he was taken up to the highest Heaven. (I do not know if his body was taken up or just his spirit. Only God knows.) I say it again, I know this man was taken up. But I do not know if his body or just his spirit was taken up. Only God knows." (2 Corinthians 12:1–3 NLV)

What Is Heaven Like?

What does Heaven look like? People often ask me that. Let me start by saying Heaven looks nothing like floating on clouds or babies eating grapes! Heaven is a real place—a living, vibrant planet. People are alive and active, doing things with joy and purpose. There is laughter, beauty, peace... and it's more real than anything we've ever known on earth.

People interact with each other. I saw a celebration dinner when someone came home to Heaven; the family gathered at a long table, filled with joy and excitement. It was the most beautiful reunion.

Will we recognize our loved ones? Yes. Absolutely. We'll still look like ourselves, only healthier, stronger, and more alive. Our spirit is the real us. This body is just our temporary "earth suit." When it wears out, the real us continues.

To everyone who believes in Jesus: You'll see your loved ones again; you'll recognize them, and you'll be recognized. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). That's not just poetic, it's literal. You close your eyes here... and open them there. (Photo via Unsplash)

Do people live in real homes in Heaven? Yes, each one is uniquely suited to the person. I've seen homes by lakes, waterfalls, and in the mountains. One had plants growing out of the walls in little pots; it was very modern and futuristic. That person had loved gardening on earth. I was shown another person who lived by a lake and was fishing in a small boat, just like they always loved to do. Jesus is incredibly personal. He gives us the desires of our hearts.

"In My Father's house are many mansions... I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14:2 KJV)

This life isn't the end; it's a doorway into a greater reality of our eternal home. That doesn't mean there's no grief here; the pain of separation is real, but the hope we carry is even more real. We grieve with hope, knowing our goodbyes are only temporary.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever." (Revelation 21:4 NLT)
