In light of the attack launched on Iran by the United States and Israel on February 28, 2026, and the retaliation that has followed, I felt it was important to share a prophetic perspective. What we are seeing unfold right now cannot be viewed only through a political lens. As the Ekklesia, we must also understand the spiritual dimension behind what is happening so we know how to pray.
This moment is not just about global conflict; it is a call for God's people to stand in prayer and agreement with Heaven. We must pray strategically for the safety of Israel and the United States, for freedom for the Iranian people, and for every demonic resistance against revival and reformation in the nations to be broken.
The Spiritual Battle Behind Natural Conflicts
Scripture shows us that behind natural conflicts there are often spiritual battles taking place. In Daniel 10, Daniel's prayers fueled a heavenly battle in which an angel was delayed by a spiritual force called the prince of Persia until Michael the archangel came to assist him. That passage gives us a glimpse into how spiritual resistance can attempt to hinder God's purposes in the earth.
I believe the prince of Persia is one of satan's generals that is deployed during times of great reformation and revival. Clearly, we are living in such a season right now.
Missions organizations have reported unprecedented numbers of Iranians coming to faith in Christ, with some describing Iran as the fastest growing church in the world. Even in the midst of oppression, God has been moving powerfully among the Iranian people. But as history shows us, whenever revival begins to break out, resistance often rises to try to stop it.
The battle for the future of Iran is not only a political or military struggle. There is also a spiritual battle taking place over the destiny of that nation and the surrounding region.
What is remarkable is that many of these events have happened during the season when Jewish people celebrate Purim, the holiday that commemorates a divine reversal when the decrees of death against God's people were overturned in the days of Esther. (Photo via Flickr)
A Time of Divine Reversals in the Earth
In June of 2022, the Lord spoke something very specific to me: "The time for the hanging of Haman's ten sons is at hand." That word pointed to the ending of a long-standing conflict between God's people and the spiritual forces that have tried to destroy them.
In the days of Esther, the enemy released a decree of death against the Jewish people. But through courage, prayer, and divine intervention that decree was overturned and a new decree of life was issued. What was meant for destruction became a moment of victory and freedom.
I believe we are once again in a time when God desires to bring divine reversals in the earth. Jesus declared in Matthew 28:18, "All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Me." From that place of authority, He commissioned His people to go and disciple nations. The discipling of nations is still God's plan today.
Intercessors Are Interceptors
I want to share what happened the night before the October 7th attack on Israel in 2023 and why I believe the Ekklesia must remain spiritually alert in this hour.
On Friday night, October 6, 2023, I was scheduled to minister at our church. That evening I felt strongly led to preach on what I call the "Cyrus anointing" that God wants to activate in His Ekklesia.
Cyrus the Great is mentioned in Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezra as the ruler God used to conquer Babylon and release the Jewish captives so they could return to their homeland and rebuild their temple and city. It was a powerful moment of reset and reformation for God's people.
I believe we are living in a similar season today. God is raising up His Ekklesia to liberate captives, release reformation and revival, and rebuild godly culture in cities and nations.
That same night, I also felt strongly that we needed to be aware of the re-emerging demonic force known as the prince of Persia—an ancient spirit connected to the territory of modern-day

For several weeks leading up to that service, I had sensed that the final day of the Feast of Tabernacles—Hoshana Rabbah—was significant and that we needed to pray. That day fell on October 7. Before I ministered that evening, I felt an unusual urgency in my spirit. At the time I did not understand why, but the next morning we awoke to the news of the horrific attack against Israel.
In that moment, it became clear that a new season of spiritual battle had begun, and that God's people needed to respond in prayer.
Scripture tells us that in times of great shaking God is also at work establishing something new. Haggai 2 declares that the Lord will shake nations and systems. Hebrews 12 speaks of a shaking that affects not only earthly structures but unseen spiritual powers as well. Yet in the midst of that shaking, I heard the Lord say something very encouraging: "The shaking will be their making."
Your Prayers Make a Difference
God is not only shaking the nations; He is awakening His people. When we look at the books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther, we see powerful examples of reformation. The temple was rebuilt, the city was restored, and decrees of death were overturned through courage, prayer, and prophetic leadership.
However, every step forward was met with resistance. Daniel was thrown into the lions' den. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the fiery furnace. Esther faced a decree of destruction against her people. Each time the enemy attempted to stop God's purposes, God ultimately brought victory.
In Daniel 10, we see that Daniel's prayers were actually fueling a heavenly battle. The angel explained to Daniel that he had been delayed by the prince of Persia until Michael the archangel came to assist him. Daniel's intercession made a difference.
On October 8, the day after the attack on Israel, I felt the Lord say something that has stayed with me: "Intercessors are interceptors." Our prayers can intercept the plans of the enemy before they accomplish their purpose. Just as Israel has an Iron Dome that intercepts incoming missiles, the prayers of God's people can intercept spiritual attacks aimed at nations and at the purposes of God.
We are living in a tipping-point moment in history. Nations are hanging in the balance, but Heaven is responding to the prayers of the saints. Let us remain watchful and prayerful in this hour. Pray in the Spirit. Pray for Israel. Pray for the nations of the Middle East. Pray for awakening and revival across the region. Heaven is listening.
