DOVE VISITS NEW ORLEANS AS A SIGN"

 Sometimes,
on some of our toughest days, amidst life's tragedies, we need to see God in the
simple things of life.
God is rarely "not" speaking . . . which is to say, He is pretty much ALWAYS
speaking to us at all times and in many ways.
Here is a short snippet from a subscriber, showing how, several weeks ago, God
spoke to her in New Orleans, and how she is taking this simple visit of a dove
to illustrate that, in our nation's toughest moments -- in our family's,
friends', and fellow citizen's most awful times -- God is not only "there," not
hiding from us, but rather, He is simply behind us at times, "watching our
backs."
Keep praying for all those victimized and those who are helping in this time of
crisis.

A Special Story from Linda Edwards, An Elijah

Hello Steve,
I have been a regular subscriber to THE ELIJAH LIST for years. I thought I would
share a little story.
About two weeks ago, I accompanied my husband
Michael on a business trip to New Orleans. The entire state of Louisiana is part
of his sales territory. It had been probably two years since I had made this
trip with Michael, and I was so excited to go and share our favorite restaurants
together.
Because of our plane leaving Dallas was
delayed by weather, we arrived late the first evening. The only rental car left
at that time was a convertible, which I have never been drawn to at all. Michael
was different. He loved the idea. The second night, we lowered the roof and took
a cruise down beside Lake Pontchartrain, enjoying the 60's tunes that were
playing on the local radio station. The station was highlighting the songs of a
well-known, black artist from that time period who had just passed on. What a
delightful time it was.
At our hotel near the causeway, I noticed that doves were on the outside
banister each morning and that I could literally walk up to them without them
flying away.
The Holy Spirit is With Each of
Us, At All Times
 As
I always do, I traveled with my digital camera. On our last morning in New
Orleans, I looked out our hotel window to see if the doves were still there so
that I could take an up-close photo of them. Sadly, I did not see any. Finally,
we loaded up our special little convertible with our luggage to make our way to
the airport. I was sitting in the passenger seat when Michael approached the car
with the last piece of luggage. He got my attention and motioned towards the
back of the car. I opened up the door, stepped outside to turn, and there see a
dove perched on the trunk lid facing me. I was literally three feet from this
beautiful bird and was able to take several up-close photos of him. I knew, in
my spirit, that this moment was of the Lord as a reminder that the Holy Spirit
was right there with me at all times.
I share this photo with you as I feel it is so representative of the hope we can
all have in the Lord, to walk these precious hurricane victims through the
toughest of times that they are now in and will face through the next days,
months, and perhaps years.

is one of the most exciting books I have read in a long time. It is a book about
holiness and intimacy with our Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit . . .
. . . I am glad that the experience of feeling
Him, being visited by Him hearing His voice, is not just the domain of the Pentecostals
or the Charismatics, but is the privilege of all His children. I am glad that the
old spiritual song is true: "I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still
on the roses, and He walks with me and He talks to me, and He tells me I am His
own." Don't be satisfied with only a head-knowledge of God, when the wonder of "knowing"
Him experientially is our privilege as a child of His.
