The LORD has been speaking to me recently about a "swift shift," saying that things are going to change quickly and suddenly (in a good way)!
Let's be honest, it's been a difficult few years. It has felt like life has been on pause in many areas. It's been a struggle to advance or press forward. There have been challenges, opposition, resistance, and warfare on so many levels. And a weariness, a disappointment, and even a cynicism has set in.
You have begun to wonder whether things will ever get better, or if this is just how life will be from now on. I believe the Lord would say, "A shift is coming, and it will be swift."
I have shared a word below. I pray it ministers to you as we begin a new year.
Be Prepared for a "Swift Shift"
We are in a crossover season, and not just in the physical or natural sense, as we have begun another calendar year. I believe this is a significant time of crossover into new assignments, places, roles, positions, responsibilities, alignments, and relationships. Many of these shifts will lead to new levels of influence, authority, impact, and favor. I can feel it stirring inside me. A shift is coming, not just for me but for the Body of Christ more widely!
For some of you, it will affect your businesses. You will pivot, expand, merge, and seize new opportunities. For others, I see geographical moves. You've been sensing it for some time but have been reluctant to take the step. It will become clear. Now is the time. (Photo via Unsplash)
For others of you, the shift is related to ministry. An old assignment is coming to an end. You have felt the grace lifting. A fresh anointing is coming for something that looks completely different.
For others, it's relational. You have walked through a long season of loneliness and isolation. Your heart's desire is for deep connection. Get ready to recognize and receive those who God is sending into your lives.
It has felt like you've been on pause for a long time, stuck in a holding pattern and going round the same mountain again and again, with some activity but very little progress or advancement. It's been frustrating and exhausting, and many of you are fed up. You can't do another year like this past one. And you won't!
As we start 2026, I believe the Lord would say, "Raise your expectations. The shift is coming."
"How Did I End up Here?"
Get prepared. Consecrate yourselves. Shake off the disappointments and debris of the last season, and get ready to move.
I see many of you sitting with a blank page in front of you, and the LORD is saying, "This is a fresh start. This is a new beginning. I'm placing it before you."
"Joshua told the people, 'Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.'" (Joshua 3:5 NIV)
He's taking you places you haven't been before—physical, spiritual, relational. Doors are going to open, in many cases, unexpectedly. You're going to find yourselves wondering, "How did I end up here?" and not in a bad way. But you will be shocked and surprised by the swiftness of the shift. That's a phrase that the Lord has been speaking to my wife and me over these past few weeks: "Swift shift."?
Personally, we have heard it spoken by the Holy Spirit to us. We have seen it written on the sides of trucks. We have read it in books. We have listened to it being shared in other prophetic words. It keeps coming up again and again: "Swift shift."
Truthfully, we don't know exactly what that means or how it will look. But several times I have heard the Lord say, "It will all become clear when you cross over into the new year."
I believe an acceleration is here in 2026. And isn't that how the Lord often works? Slow, slow, slow, slow, slow... then whoosh! Things can change very quickly. (Photo via Unsplash)
"This is what the Sovereign Lord says: None of My words will be delayed any longer; whatever I say will be fulfilled, declares the Sovereign Lord." (Ezekiel 12:28 NIV)
Time to Cross Over
The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for forty years. Then, after the death of Moses, there was a "swift shift," and they crossed over into the Promised Land within three days.
So what do you do? You posture your hearts in holiness, humility, surrender, and readiness. You ask the Lord for fresh vision and the ability to discern what He is unfolding before you.
"Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites." (Joshua 1:2 NIV)
Set aside more time to pray, listen, journal, and seek revelation from His Word. And when opportunities come and doors open, don't stand looking at them. Step forward, even if it's different from what you expected. Perhaps you will feel intimidated or inadequate. Step forward anyway.
"Go through the camp and tell the people, 'Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.'" (Joshua 1:11 NIV)
You are at your time of crossing over...
We are in the first month of 2026. Don't coast or become casual. Be focused and intentional with your time. Remove frivolous distractions. Seek His face. Press into His presence. And take hold of everything that He's placing before you. Be prepared for a "swift shift."
