You Are Responsible for Your Own Climb
While in prayer, I was taken into a vision. I saw myself going up this very steep mountain. I had a tool in my hand that the Lord later revealed was a "grappling hook."
As I was going up this steep mountain, it was snowing. It was very cold, and the way up felt treacherous, yet I knew the climb could be accomplished. I had on very heavy protective winter gear, and even goggles to protect my eyes from the torrent of the wind on this climb. Then the Lord reminded me of a Scripture:
"Who may ascend onto the mountain of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to what is false, nor has sworn [oaths] deceitfully. He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation (description) of those who diligently seek Him and require Him as their greatest need, who seek Your face, even [as did] Jacob. Selah." (Psalm 24:3–6)
Then underneath me I saw a long line of people holding onto a rope that I clearly had in my hand, along with the tool. Then all of a sudden I saw the line snap, and I said, "Lord, what does this mean?" And the Lord began to impress a message upon me:
There are people wanting to go up the mountain, but they depend on others to bring them to the top without their own personal work, effort, sacrifice, obedience, etc. to get there. While there are those who help others climb, each person is responsible for their own ascent. Each person is responsible for their own climb. Each person requires their own steadfast action to get there.
Our apostles, our prophets, our pastors, our teachers, and our evangelists can only bring us so far! WE must ascend for OURSELVES. This requires us to take the climb with faith, commitment, and perseverance. We have the grappling hook of the Spirit to help us work our way upward. While Jesus is the anchor of our hope and salvation, the Holy Spirit is the empowerment that sustains us in the anchored position! He will teach, guide, and lead us into truth! (Photo via Unsplash)
Higher Heights Require Less Weights
One very important key the Lord spoke about ascension was that we must become lighter. While there are things we are "grappling" with, we must make clear and effective decisions to remove the extra baggage and weights. Higher heights require less weights!
The word "grappling" was shown to me earlier in prayer, before I ever knew what the tool was called! He said, "People are grappling with things they refuse to deal with." Other words for "grappling" are wrestle, struggle, tussle, and strenuous effort. He has given us a grappling tool in the spirit to help us along this ascent! Let's take the tool of the Spirit and make our advancement!
Though the climb seems hard and even treacherous, there is a reward for our willingness and obedience. There is a reward for our sacrifice, for endurance, for long-suffering, and for the pursuit of a life devoted to Christ the Messiah. There is a great reward when we lay our lives down to follow the Lord.
He said to me, "Leave all your belongings and follow Me. Follow the way of transformation. Follow the way of obedience!"
The Lord is speaking to us here and now about personal ascension (a higher level in Him). It requires each Believer to take the climb and endure all the WAY UPWARD.
Luke 14:33 says, "So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple." This does not always mean all of our material possessions (though it could). But it does mean that Jesus is above all other things in our lives, even when it requires a sacrifice. The way is narrow, not wide. Some things will get left behind; we must be okay with that moving forward.
People of God, we can no longer be dangling on the ropes of others, hoping to arrive at the mountain top without any of our own personal effort and action. The days of depending on everyone else for our own lives must end, and our full dependency upon the living God must begin. While the Lord has anointed many to lead and guide within the Body, it is our personal responsibility to walk out our own salvation with fear and trembling.
"Therefore, My beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in My presence only, but now much more in My absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Philippians 2:12)
Healing the Eyes of Your Understanding
Lastly, the Lord said to me, "I am healing the eyes of your understanding this hour." This is a proper spiritual understanding that the Lord is bringing full clarity to. This will be the ability to grasp spiritual truths and the ability to discern His purposes. We need clear spiritual sight, perception, and truth! (Photo via Unsplash)
Ephesians 1:18 says: "[T]he eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints." This verse is where Paul prayed for the Believers in Ephesus to have their inner eyes opened to understand the depth of God's calling, blessings, and power. This is spiritual illumination granted by the Holy Spirit to us. Why? To know the hope of His calling, to see the riches of His inheritance, and to experience His power and His wisdom.
How do we partner with this message and word from the Lord? We follow the instructions He is giving us to no longer grapple with the weights and influences around us, but rather lay everything down to pursue all He has for us. We won't always feel good or pleasant in the process, but the outcome will be transformative. We must make a daily choice to walk out our prophetic destiny to see it come to pass. It's actively living out the implications of personal salvation in our lives. It will involve obedience, willingness, sanctification, growing in the likeness and nature of Christ, walking in humility, and being serious about pursuing holiness while living responsible as His children.
"For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God." (Romans 8:14)
Decree this with me today: The eyes of my understanding are being enlightened by the Holy Spirit granting me clarity, discernment, and a deeper understanding of God's purpose for my life. I choose to ascend to higher heights and walk out my own salvation in fear and trembling. I decree this is the year of personal ascent in the Lord Most High. As the Holy Spirit leads my life, I will walk out my prophetic destiny in fullness.
