In 2025, it is crucial that we not only discern the call of God upon our lives as individuals, but also understand the specificities related to that call. We must be able to recognize the time and season God has us in in relation to our calling, life, and destiny. By discerning this, we can avoid wasting precious time and energy. Understanding one's "lane" and staying in it allows us to maximize our effectiveness and bear fruit for the Kingdom of God.
John 15:16 says, "I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last."
Called to the Nations
A few months ago, upon waking for the day, the Lord said to me, "What is the name of your ministry?"
I replied, "Destiny 4 the Nations!"
He responded, "It's not Destiny 4 the States. I have those assigned to cities, those assigned to states, but I have called you, first and foremost, to the nations."
At that time, there were several individuals asking me to be involved in statewide and citywide assignments across different regions. God was showing me that He had anointed and called them for their assignments, just as He had anointed and called me for mine.
A Call to the Jews and a Call to the Gentiles
Notice how Paul and Barnabas were considered apostles to the Gentiles in Scripture, while other apostles, like Peter, focused primarily on the Jews.
Galatians 2:7–8: "...[W]hen they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (for he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles)." (Photo via Pixabay)
Determine the Primary Call for Every Season
There are times and seasons when God allows us to operate in a multi-functional grace and anointing. Those primarily called to a city may be assigned to a nation for a season, and those assigned primarily to nations may be assigned to a city for a season. In every season, we must determine the primary call and primary focus that God wants us to have for His work in the Kingdom. Often, "other assignments" are byproducts or spin-offs of our main God-given assignment.
An example of this can be found with Jesus Himself. He primarily ministered to the Jews, but we do see a other occasions, like when He ministered to the Samaritan woman (John 4) and the Syrophoenician woman (Mark 7:24–30).
Know Your Lane and Stay in It
Paul uses the words "effectually" and "mighty" when describing the respective spheres of influence assigned to him, in contrast to Peter. Both were effective and mighty because they realized their own lanes and focused their energy primarily in those directions.
Sadly, too often we project our own burden and assignment onto others, feeling that everyone should be doing things "our way" or focusing on what we've been called to do. This mindset can lead to error and imbalance within the Body of Christ.
Ephesians 4 explains how each body part functions and supplies differently for the whole body. Likewise, God has created different graces, giftings, and callings to establish a ministry ecosystem with a perfect division of labor.
Ephesians 4:16: "From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."
In 2025, know your lane. Stay in it. Grow in it. Prosper in it. Bring glory to God in it.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Open the eyes of our understanding, that we may discern and perceive EXACTLY the things You have called us to do within Your Kingdom.
Father, we desire to bring great glory to Your name and know this can only be achieved by following Your will for our lives. We pray, in Jesus' name, that Your Holy Spirit would guide and lead us not into Your permissive will but into Your perfect will for our lives.
As Your perfect will manifests in and through us, we decree that overflowing blessings will reach our families, communities, and the people we are called to impact. Amen!
