The Sound of Abundance of Rain
On a recent morning, as soon as I awakened, I heard the phrase "The sound of abundance of rain" from the Holy Spirit. I immediately went to look it up, and here's what I found:
"Then Elijah said to Ahab, 'Go up, eat and drink; for there is THE SOUND OF ABUNDANCE OF RAIN.' So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, and said to his servant, 'Go up now, look toward the sea.'
"So he went up and looked, and said, 'There is nothing.' And seven times he said, 'Go again.'
"Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, 'There is a cloud, as small as a man's hand, rising out of the sea!' So he said, 'Go up, say to Ahab, "Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you."'" (1 Kings 18:41–44, emphasis mine)
Right before Elijah heard the sound of abundance of rain, he had challenged the prophets of Baal, and the Lord turned the hearts of the nation of Israel back to Himself. The drought upon the land was removed by the hand of God, which his servant saw rising out of the sea.
The Former and Latter Rains
There's a challenge that has been put forth by the real prophetic voices of God, and I believe that it's taking place in this hour that we're in. God is turning the hearts of the children back to the Father so that there will be an abundance of the former and latter rains that will begin to fall upon the nations of this world!
"Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month." (Joel 2:23)
I believe the former rain will bring in the revelation of God that will change minds and turn hearts, while the latter rain will transform the hearts and minds of the people so that they can encounter the Lord and be changed! (Photo via Unsplash)
While the rain that was brought by the hand of the Lord in the book of Kings was used to end a physical drought in the natural realm, the rain that the hand of the Lord is bringing in this hour will usher in supernatural revelation and transformation!
Just before the rain began to fall in 1 Kings 18, Elijah girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab's chariot, all the way to Jezreel. Jezreel means "God sows" or "God will scatter" (Strong's H3157). So God has been raising up forerunners who will prophetically run ahead (or go before) the rains so that the gospel of Jesus Christ can be sown into the hearts of this current generation, and a harvest will take place of epic proportions!
"Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till He come and rain righteousness upon you." (Hosea 10:12)
Righteousness Restored
Right now, there is a righteousness that is being restored to positions of authority and power all across the world in preparation for the coming rains that are beginning to fall in the nations as the Holy Spirit begins to pour out His Spirit upon ALL FLESH!
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams..." (Acts 2:17)
While what happened in Acts 2 was a partial fulfillment of what Joel prophesied, it was only the beginning of it, not the end. Every member of the Body of Christ should be looking for the rising of the hand of the Lord in this hour, because only His hand can transform lives, only His hand can bring the rain, only His hand can bring change, and ONLY HIS HAND CAN SAVE US!
