"A Slingshot Month"
On May 26, 2024, I had a vision. I kept on seeing fierce battles which seemed impossible to win. God's people were being stretched beyond their abilities. Many were attempting to retaliate and fight back but were missing their targets. I kept on hearing the word, "A slingshot month."
I saw many drop their instruments of war and were handed a slingshot. Many didn't know how to use it, and they thought it had no power and it would miss its target, so they were not using it.
This was not an easy choice, because the slingshot first had to either be swung in the air or stretched and pulled back. But I heard a voice say, "Pick up your slingshot, for by it you will win this battle."
Those who used it were shocked, because as they released the stones, they found out that those stones had supernatural power as they were being released, and they were hitting their targets. But the pulling back was for a purpose; it was intended for them to go further and faster. Those who obeyed and used their slingshot hit their target. So, it's a month of strategy.
Those rocks in the slingshot are God's words and promises over your life. Your tongue is the slingshot which releases the promises of God over the enemy.
How the Slingshot Works
Referencing the biblical account of David and Goliath, as the slingshot in David's hand was pulled back, energy was transferred from David's muscles to energy in the bands of the slingshot. After the slingshot was released, the energy was transferred to the stone as energy of motion (kinetic energy).
In the story we learn that, "A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. His height was six cubits and a span (about 9 feet 10 inches or about 3 meters). He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels (about 100 pounds, or about 45 kilograms); on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back. His spear shaft was like a weaver's rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels (about 12 pounds or about 5.4 kilograms)..." (1 Samuel 17:4–7 emphasis mine)
The Challenge
"Then the Philistine said, 'This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other.' On hearing the Philistine's words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified." (1 Samuel 17:10–11)
"David said to Saul, 'Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.' Saul replied, 'You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.' (Photo via Unsplash)
"But David said to Saul, 'Your servant has been keeping his father's sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.' Saul said to David, 'Go, and the Lord be with you.'
"Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. 'I cannot go in these,' he said to Saul, 'because I am not used to them.' So he took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine." (1 Samuel 17:32–40)
"As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him." (1 Samuel 17:48–50)
The slingshot was a prophetic act, but David knew that it was God bringing the victory. It was not his human strength but God's strength. I hear the Lord saying, "Many of My people will say, 'God secured a great victory,' others will say, 'But God.'"
"We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead." (2 Corinthians 1:8–9)
"Among all these soldiers there were seven hundred select troops who were left-handed, each of whom could sling a stone at a hair and not miss." (Judges 20:16)
"The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:4–5)
A Word for June – the Divine Slingshot Is Released to You
"You are entering a season where you will begin to see the divine slingshot being released to you. Receive it and use it against all the strategies of the enemy, for I have given you the victory. You are coming into a time where you will wake up and find out that [the] evil [that] has been destroying your life is gone without any reasonable explanation.
"Don't be surprised. My slingshot carries My power—My energy of motion—which is released to remove evil. It does not miss its target, even if that target [is] a hair. This is a month where, despite the battle, you will be encouraged and shout out, 'Lord, how did You do this?' (Photo via Flickr)
"And this will be My answer, 'I have heard these threats, and I have stretched out My hands to perform miraculous signs in the name of My Son Jesus. I have stretched My slingshot to its target, and I have not missed. My Word and My promises— which go out of My mouth like a slingshot—will go out to achieve their goal, and they [will] not come back empty.'
"I have seen the battle, and I have heard their words that defy My name. I have seen how you feel and that it seems that you are being pulled back. It may seem that you are on the back foot—stretched beyond your ability to endure—but I tell you today, 'You are going faster and further like the stones in David's sling. They were charged with My power, My strength, and My energy to bring down a giant.'
My Word in My Mouth Is as My Word in Your Mouth
"This is not the time to shy away and play the defense game. Pull out your slingshot and use it, for I, the Lord your God, gave you My victory.
"It will not be you using that slingshot. It will not be your power, but Mine, released to pull down every stronghold, every limitation, every opposition, and everything holding you back.
"For I am a slinger, and I am raising up My army of slingers who understand that their weapons of warfare are not human. They are supernaturally charged by My power to pull down every arrogant obstacle that comes their way, to remove every hindrance that's stopping them from seeing My glory.
"I am touching your tongues and filling them with power to release My Word and watch it go out and hit its target. Get ready to see the walls fall and tumble down like the walls of Jericho. Get ready to run, and run, and run, for I have commanded your freedom and destroyed what's holding you back.
"This is a month of celebration where you will celebrate My great victory. For I prophesy to you that you will win the greatest of battles using the simplest of weapons. You will see Goliath fall with his sword and spear and javelin, while you prosper and see My glory.
"For this is My promise to you: every instrument that's coming against you will not prosper and every tongue that's accusing you, you will judge, for you are stepping into the heritage of the Lord. For My Word in My mouth is as My Word in your mouth."
