Personally, I don't like gimmicks or even rhythmical, catchy, little sayings that might make me sound like I am commercializing the word of God, and the Lord knows this. After telling Him multiple times that I don't like to rhyme when I prophesy, lately He has persisted in speaking to me in prophetic rhymes.
No doubt about it, God has a sense of humor! He reminded me that a whole division in the Old Testament is called the "poetical writings." He's been impressing on my heart to get over my preferences. It's not about me; it's about Him! Moreover, He said to speak His words the way He gave them to me. I have resigned myself to the idea that if people begin to describe me as the "Dr. Seuss" prophet, it doesn't matter, as long as I am obeying God. (Don't worry, He's not led me to speak about green eggs and ham!)
Here it is—the one-line poetical word of the Lord that came to me that I wrestled so much with:
"May is not a time to PLAY! It is the time to PRAY! Beginning in May and continuing into the summer season will be a 'crossing of a threshold' into the plans that I have for you. These next few months will be pivotal for what is in My heart for you." (Photo via Pexels)
He charged me with the responsibility of delivering this word, for this critical hour, to His people:
"There are many prophetic promises that are hanging ON A HINGE."
Then, He showed me a vision of a door. The best way to describe it is that the door resembled those found in restaurant kitchens, able to freely swing in both directions. Just like that door, prophetic promises can sway in either direction, depending on the prayers of His people.
"...The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (Believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]." (James 5:16, AMP)
What Happens When the Church Prays?
What happens when the Church prays? One example is in Acts 12, when the Church prayed without ceasing, and as a result of their praying the enemy's plot was stopped.
It took place when Peter had been arrested after the execution of James. Herod saw that it pleased the Jews to persecute the followers of Jesus, and with great, political astuteness he determined Peter would be next. However, the night before Peter was to stand trial, the Church gathered to pray for an intervention; God heard their prayers and sent an angel to the jail cell where Peter was chained and sleeping between two guards. The angel led Peter safely out of prison, opening up gates for Peter to walk through.
After Peter's miraculous escape, he went to the house where they were praying, and when they saw him, they were astonished at how God had answered their prayer. Just like He did for those praying for Peter, God is going to leave you astonished at His answer to your prayers.
Why should you pray? The simple answer is that Jesus told you to pray.
"Now Jesus was telling the disciples a parable to make the point that at all times they ought to pray and not give up and lose heart." (Luke 18:1, AMP)
One of the most effective weapons the enemy uses against Believers is to convince them that their prayers don't matter. If he can achieve his goal of disarming the Church through prayerlessness, then he will have gained the advantage over you.
The disciples discovered the secret to Jesus' power was found in His prayer life. They asked Him to "teach us to pray" (Luke 11:1). They didn't ask how to build churches, work miracles, raise the dead, or any of the other requests they could have made. They understood that if they knew how to pray, then all the other things would flow from their prayer life. This holds true for you.
Do my prayers matter? Isn't God going to do whatever He wants to do whether I pray or not?
The short answer is YES, your prayers do matter. They usher in God's agenda and release His Kingdom on Earth.
Moses and Aaron's prayers brought change to a nation that was on the path of destruction. Hannah's prayers birthed a Samuel, who brought forth a pure, prophetic movement. Mordecai and Esther's prayers saved God's people from destruction. So, what can your prayers do? Your prayers can shift nations, break generational curses, and birth a spiritual awakening! This Is Your Time!
God is looking for someone who will stand in the gap and be the intercessor who will bombard Heaven and swing open the door to prophetic promises on behalf of the whole earth. This is your time! Take note of this truth: God has plans for your future, but the enemy has plots to thwart God's agenda. You have a choice to make. Choose today to become the warrior of God and bridge the gap through prayer.
This is a season of birthing prophetic promises. It is not a coincidence that Mother's Day is celebrated in May, with Father's Day following in June. It is a prophetic picture of the season of fruitfulness and the birthing of His promises. Every move of God is birthed by prayer!
After Elijah called fire down from Heaven, he postured himself in the birthing position, with his head between his knees, and began to pray (1 Kings 18:42). He heard the abundance of rain, even though there was no cloud in sight. His tenacity in prayer ended a three-and-a-half-year drought and birthed the abundant rain that turned the nation's economy. What if Elijah had not prayed? Would there have been rain? What if you do not pray? Will there be a breakthrough and a fulfillment of destiny?
Your prayers can shift the climate and future of a nation. Playtime is over. Warriors are rising. May is not a time to play! It is time to pray!
