An Active Spiritual Force
The Lord spoke to me one morning, "If you don't have LOVE, then you have nothing!"
As I was meditating upon my own love walk, hopeful to improve it, several thoughts came to my mind. LOVE is not just a principle, but it is a powerful and active spiritual force. It is both a fruit of the Spirit and a spiritual energy that motivates our thoughts and behaviors. As I grow in my spiritual walk, I'm still learning about the necessity and importance of the love of God.
A dear sister, Penny Jackson, delivered this prophetic word from the Lord to me on January 14, 2024:
"Son, I have made you like a force of nature. There is a strength in your personality that has at times caused people to hold back at first. Your openness and immediate love and acceptance of people can catch them off guard. In a society that has taught themselves not to show much emotion, they are not quite sure what to make of you initially. They may wonder at first if you are genuine. You have felt them hold back at times and haven't understood. But as they continue to watch you, they see the sincerity that is in you, your passion for Me, and the genuine love for people that I have placed within you. Then they are drawn to you. Don't let their initial reluctance hurt you or bother you. I will handle that. Just give them a chance to warm up."
A few weeks later, I was at a TV network recording for a broadcast. After the recording, one of the producers talked to me for nearly thirty minutes. He said, "I could feel the love of God emanating from you!" As far as I was aware, I had not done or said anything extra nice or kind, but in the spirit realm, he had PERCEIVED and DISCERNED something flowing out of my spirit. He shared that it had caught him off guard to some degree. Whatever transpired, it blessed me more than it blessed him. This wonderful man of God and I made a divine connection, not by any external efforts, but by the love of Jesus flowing from a vessel into the atmosphere. (Photo via Creative Commons)
The Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance another time when an ex-gang member shared with me by phone the following: "When I met you, I didn't know what was happening. When I was in the car with you, I felt the love of God coming from you and it made me nervous. I was thinking to myself, I don't know this guy, and [he] don't even know me. Why am I feeling this?"
He was reflecting upon when we had met a year earlier through a third party. I told him, "Jump in the car with me and ride with me to the store!" Most people are expecting a preacher to preach to them or be hyper religious. NOPE! I just simply talked to him and prayed with him later. It wasn't my words or actions that ministered to him, but the presence of Christ and His love at work which he had perceived.
Scripture reveals that the love of God has a drawing power. This power cannot be feigned or duplicated. Jeremiah 31:3: "...'I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with lovingkindness.'" This drawing power of love is a power that satan and his cohorts do not possess. They can only offer momentary pleasures of the flesh and material gain to draw individuals into their dubious designs.
Once I was going into a certain city and God allowed me to host a large gathering of many pastors, leaders, and Believers from diverse streams of ministry, denominations, and ethnic groups. A week before the meeting, during prayer, the Lord deposited a love for the leaders in that region into my heart. I could tangibly feel a love for them, even ones who, in the past, may not have particularly subscribed to my ministry style. In that meeting, God healed, delivered, restored, and re-energized so many leaders. People saw deliverance and miracles, but what I saw was the active love of God at work.
A Return to Unity
Somehow, I got stuck with the title "The Miracle Man." Those who know me personally know that I dislike this moniker. I have been introduced with this epithet in print, television, and in meetings. I always say, "Jesus is the REAL Miracle Man!" One day, I asked the Lord to remove it. He told me that He wouldn't, and I should get used to it; it was purposeful, and He would use it for His purposes. I even complained to my wife, saying, "Our ministry does way more than miracles, but that seems to be what people note the ministry for!" She explained the wisdom of God behind this to me and settled my spirit.
Because of this, people always ask me about miracles and the supernatural. Often, they are looking for some three or four-step methodology. Our "microwave" generation often desires everything reduced to a short how-to manual, or a three-step guide. One of the most powerful principles that I like to share on the miraculous is that there must be a sincere and fervent LOVE FOR GOD and LOVE FOR PEOPLE! The Scriptures reveal that many of Jesus' most powerful miracles were motivated by love! (Photo via Unsplash)
"And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and He healed their sick." (Matthew 14:14)
The love of God will not only help you manifest the miracles of God, but also enlarge your capacity to receive from the grace of God. It will empower your ability to be patient with people when needed and merciful when appropriate. The love of God will make some things that are hard easy. Serving the Lord does not become a grievous task but rather a joyful pleasure. Oh, how the love of Christ positions us to walk in a greater knowledge of Him!
Prayer
My prayer is that the love God increases in all of our lives. May we be known by our love. May our love overcome the forces of darkness. May our love release the miracle-working power of God. May the love of God cause the illuminating force of the glory of God to resound in our hearts and minds. May our love BRING UNITY again into the Ecclesia and Body of Christ. May the love of Christ within us operate at a higher frequency. May the love of God launch us into a new supernatural dimension of grace and favor. May it be so in Jesus' mighty name!
"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:35)
"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
