Have you ever wished you could pray better? Most Believers have a desire to be more effective or more faithful in prayer. One of the tools that can really help your prayer life may surprise you – it's prophecy.
Let me share with you three ways I've experienced prayer in conjunction with the prophetic.
1. Answers, Not Problems
Prophecy helps you pray the answer, not the problem. Often we are so fixated on our problems that we spend our prayer time merely complaining to God. We finish our prayers by briefly and desperately asking God to intervene and do something about it. This form of prayer is not necessarily bad, because God does want us to be honest with our struggles and requests, but there is a better way.
God wants to give you answers so that you can partner with the solution. Rather than restating the problem that God already knows, it is better to ask Him what He wants you to do concerning it. Spend less time talking and a little more listening for what God is saying or doing in regard to your problem. Then, simply agree with Him.
2. From Heaven to Earth
Have you ever felt like your prayers were hitting a brass ceiling and not being heard or effective? That may be the result of a problem with direction.
Which direction is your prayer going? Prophecy helps you pray from Heaven to Earth. It comes from a place that is high above all principalities, powers, and authorities. Prophetic prayer has the breath of Heaven upon it.
Start your prayer time by focusing on the reality that you are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). From this place, ask the Father what is on His heart. What does God want to release today and how can you partner with it? (Photo via Wallpaper Flare)
3. Measurable Results
Do you see answers to your prayers? Do you have confident faith when you pray? Look at this promise:
"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him." (1 John 5:14-15)
This is similar to an Old Testament revelation:
"...so is My word that goes out from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11)
When we pray what God is saying and doing, then nothing is impossible.
Your union with God makes prayer a powerful tool. Learning to recognize and respond to the voice of God in prayer will take your prayers and answers to the next level.
