Crystal G.H. Lowery: "Celebrate the Sound of Freedom!"

Crystal G.H. Lowery

From the Desks of Steve Shultz and Julie A. Smith:

Steve Shultz

As we celebrate July 4th in our nation today, this is an excellent message to read about our true freedom, which is found in Christ.

Crystal Lowery writes about this, and we wanted to share her article on this very day:

There is freedom for you. Jesus paid for your freedom. One of your covenant benefits is a victorious life on Earth, which includes freedom from the bondage of the enemy. We also know that our God never leaves us, and that He is always with us.

Steve ShultzWe pray that you experience the freedom today that our Lord wants you to have...which He freely gave to us all. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

Communicating through the Noise

When I was working on my graduate degree, one of my professors who taught a communication class drew a simple but profound diagram on the chalkboard. He drew two people whose profiles were facing each other. One person was speaking to the other. A line with an arrow went from person A to person B to represent person A communicating to person B.

That sounds so simple that even a preschooler can understand, right? Think again. He went on to explain that what starts with a concept or thought then must be translated into words in the language of person A to be effectively communicated verbally to person B. Person B must fully understand the language of person A, and the words must be translated in the brain of person B to the exact same concept or thought that person A had originally.

What makes this more challenging is that from the time person A communicates to person B, there is chatter, noise, and distractions happening all around. So, person A may not be fully in tip-top shape to communicate, and person B may not be paying full attention and may miss or misinterpret all or part of what person A is communicating. Whew... Are you exhausted?

Even though this is the process of natural communication, there are some supernatural and spiritual concepts about communication I want to share, which I believe are for a time such as this. It is the sound of freedom. (Photo via Pexels)

You Are Never Alone

As Believers, we don't need to go searching for freedom. In a world swirling with noise and chaos, Deuteronomy 31:8 (NKJV) boldly says, "And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed." Other versions say that He will "never" leave us nor forsake us. We have comfort that we are never alone, even if we are thousands of miles from any physical person. If no one on Earth understands us or is there for us, He is still right with us every second of our lives.

That brings me such comfort. Life can be challenging, even for the most blessed person on Earth. There are still trials and heart-wrenching situations to overcome. However, even in the midst of our worst day on Earth, God is with us. Even on our best day, He is still right there with us. He goes before us and leads us out through the fire and makes us rest in green pastures.

As Psalm 23 reassures us so well, we only walk through the valley of the shadow of death. We never camp out and make that place our habitation. It is also just a shadow of death, not death itself. The enemy only tries to darken out the light of God to cast a shadow. Satan is not God and never will be. He always comes as a roaring lion, seeking those who allow him to devour them. Satan is not THE LION; that is Jesus, the Lion of the tribe of Judah—our mighty, victorious King.

Where the Spirit of the Lord Is, There Is Freedom

There is freedom for you. Jesus paid for your freedom. One of your covenant benefits is a victorious life on Earth, which includes freedom from the bondage of the enemy. We also know that our God never leaves us, and that He is always with us.

Let me weave this together for you with a promise from 2 Corinthians 3:17. The New King James version says, "Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." The New International version says it this way: "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."

As a blood-bought child of God, you have the Spirit of the Lord with you every day, every night, every minute, and every second of the day. In fact, the Holy Spirit dwells IN you. And...where the Spirit of the Lord is, there IS freedom and liberty.

We Come from a Place of Freedom

I'm so glad that, in the United States, we live in the land of the free. I'm so thankful that our forefathers fought and died to give us our freedom. But our true heavenly freedom comes from the presence of the Spirit of the Lord. Jesus fought and died to give us our true freedom. He came to set the captives free. We ARE (that is present tense) free. (Photo via Flickr)

Galatians 5:1 (NIV) tells us, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Christ became "unfree" so that we could be free. He paid that price on the Cross for us so we could be free. Before our freedom, we were all chained by bonds of slavery to the enemy, but no longer! Pay special attention to the words here: Christ HAS set us free. That means we are, right now, free because of what Jesus ALREADY did for us. We come FROM a place of freedom. We are not going TO a place of freedom. Because we come from a place of freedom, we can resist the yoke of slavery. Do not let yourselves be burdened again by slavery's yoke.

The Sound of Freedom

You are free. Walk boldly in the freedom Christ gave you. Refuse to live in the dark prison cell of the enemy, chained and shackled. The beautiful sound of freedom has already broken through the noise and chaos of slavery and bondage.

Just like the diagram my professor drew to illustrate communication, there is noise in the communication, but Jesus has rung the bell of freedom. It has come through loud and clear. There is no mistake. The promise is yours. As we celebrate freedom and liberty in our nation, celebrate the victory that Christ won to give you true freedom.
