"Redeeming the Time"

REDEEMING THE TIME

This July, at a gathering called "The Gate" in Washington, D.C., the Lord gave me a prophetic experience regarding an emerging season where He is redeeming the time on behalf of His body.

Almost immediately after this experience, God brought significant confirmation in my own life. Many friends with whom I have prayed and shared the word have also been impacted. In a dream a week ago, the Lord made clear it is now time to release this word to the broader body of Christ.


WHIRLWIND AT THE GATE

In the prophetic experience, I saw and heard swirling winds forming a whirlwind and descending upon us. The sound was like the rhythm of a helicopter, and the whirlwind was moving counterclockwise.

I asked the Lord why the whirlwind was rotating counterclockwise, and He spoke to me that it's because these winds were released for the redeeming of time. This is a facet of His manifest justice. God is prepared, as it were, to turn back the hand of time. He is breathing life into the gate of this nation, bringing us into a season where kairos windows of opportunity, stolen by the enemy, will be redeemed and brought back around.

As His breath begins to blow, God will bring to completion His intentions for our lives that have seemingly been aborted by the enemy. Even opportunities missed by our own stupor are available for His redemption. Let the Lord quicken to you what kairos opportunities you have been robbed of, and ask Him for restoration. He is eager to move on your behalf!


THE WISE REDEEM THE TIME

In Ephesians 5:15-16, we are admonished that redeeming the (kairos) time is a facet of walking wisely in the midst of evil days. The prophet Joel speaks of an army trained to "enter through the windows like a thief" (Joel 2:9). How often have we slumbered while incredible windows of opportunity have opened by the hand of the Lord? Just like an unrighteous thief, God is calling us to focus on the prize on the other side of the window. He's saying it's wise to see that the prize is worth the risk!

As God redeems kairos opportunities to establish His justice, even to change the course of history, let's walk wisely.


DR. KING AND THE HEALING MOVEMENT

In his time, Martin Luther King responded to such a call. He perceived that God had opened a window to this nation to bring to fruition the promise of liberty for which the Civil War had originally been fought. In other words, God brought back around a kairos window of opportunity to establish His justice -- for all.

It is interesting to note that at this season in history, the healing movement birthed by Oral Roberts, Kenneth Hagin, Paul Cain, Jack Coe, Kathryn Kuhlman, and others, was being breathed on with strength by the Holy Spirit. God was restoring the Biblical truth that, through the cross, Christ Jesus paid for our healing as well as our salvation. And that our healing was a facet of His justice.

In this context, God raised up Martin Luther King with a healing anointing to restore the soul of a nation! It is to our shame that as God began to shift His people into a focus on healing a nation, the vast majority of white Christians responded with passivity.


KING'S CALL: REDEEM THE TIME

Dr. King was often confronted with criticism from white Christians that his actions were too extreme for the era in which he lived. Responding to this criticism in a Letter from a Birmingham Jail, Dr. King amazingly identified stewardship of time as the core issue! He wrote: "Such an attitude stems from a tragic misconception of time . . . More and more I feel that the people of ill will have used time much more effectively than the people of good will. We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the vitriolic words and actions of the bad people, but for the appalling silence of the good people . . . We must use time creatively, and forever realize that the time is always right to do right."

We live in an era similar to that of Martin Luther King. To the seeking, God is releasing a new measure of apostolic anointing and authority to establish societal justice. This anointing, commensurate with our lifestyle, will empower us to redeem the kairos time so that issues of justice -- even on a national level -- may be brought to completion.

In this season of restoration, may God give us the same resolve so demonstrated by Dr. King. Because the cost will be much greater if we stay passive. The fulfillment of God's promise to this nation depends upon a swift response to His call to "establish justice at the gates." As the windows of opportunity open -- go through!

"Go through, Go through the gates; prepare the way for the people . . . " (Isaiah 62:10)
