From the Desks of Steve Shultz and Julie A. Smith:
When we think of "missions" work, we often think of going to other nations – even living in remote areas to bring the Gospel, which is an amazing destiny and purpose in the Lord!
Yet, we've also heard God calling people to the mission field...right where they're at, and we don't often see this as missions work...but that is changing!
Anthony Medina gives some inspiring insight for those called into other areas which are also important mission fields:
This New Covenant missions expression is one that says, "My call to 'go' isn't just fulfilled in the bush in Africa or the jungles of the Amazon. My call to go also includes my local government, education system, music labels, film companies, etc."
Yes, whatever mountain the Lord is calling you to, to bring the good news and make impact...is YOUR mission field.
With that in mind, read the rest of this awesome word from Anthony Medina, as God leads you to bring a new missions expression. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

"I Am Stirring Up a New Covenant Missions Expression"
Anthony Medina, Cedar Hill, TX
The Altar of Surrender
I had an interesting vision recently. I saw Heidi Baker at Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship (now known as Catch the Fire), the site of the "Toronto Blessing." She was at the altar. As she looked up, I could see her eyes, and she said, "Come and meet this missional God of love that I met at the altar of surrender."
Once the scene ended, I asked the Lord what He was saying through this. He gave me Mark 16:15: "And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to the whole creation.'"
Shifting Back to Original Intent
I then heard Him say, "I am stirring up a New Covenant missions expression. The old wineskin of missions is being done away with and I am expanding the understanding, scope and reach of missions on the earth, shifting it back into original intent."
As I inquired further, I began to see various images. I saw one of a person on a movie set and another in a board room. I saw someone sitting with a family in a thatched-roof hut and yet another was an accountant for various businesses. Each one had on a shirt that had the initials "NSM" on it. Not knowing what that was, I asked the Lord. He said it stood for "New School Moravian." (Photo via Unsplash)
If you don't know who the Moravians were, I encourage you to look them up. But to give you a little context, they were a group of men and women that began what went on to be a 100 year prayer meeting. They received the heart of God in the place of prayer and would then go, with some even selling themselves into slavery, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
New School Moravians
These "new school" Moravians are people of prayer and action. They pray without ceasing and their feet are beautiful from carrying the good news (Isaiah 52:7). They've received their assignments from Heaven, some of which are quite unorthodox when compared to the current missions wineskin that the Church in America currently has. Their old missions wineskin has been replaced with a New Covenant one.
This New Covenant missions expression is one that says, "My call to 'go' isn't just fulfilled in the bush in Africa or the jungles of the Amazon. My call to go also includes my local government, education system, music labels, film companies, etc. The whole world (Greek: kosmos) includes the wealthy, those with more than enough to eat, the agnostic, atheist, etc., and I must reach them for Jesus."
Surrender your old missions wineskin to the Lord so that He can redefine your expression of what it should be, and watch in wonder as He uses you powerfully for Kingdom expansion.
