From the Desks of Steve Shultz and Julie A. Smith:

Steve ShultzHave you, like King Hezekiah, felt concerned about the enemy breathing down threats to you... talking about your annihilation? Well, take courage as you read this timely word from Karen Hardin!

She shares some insight that the Lord gave her while reading in 2 Kings 18-19, when King Hezekiah was being threatened by the king of Assyria.

Karen shares here:

In the days of King Hezekiah, the city was under threat of siege—just as we are now. The evil king of Assyria had more money, more troops and a more strategic position. He had a calculated plan for takeover—just like the one coming against us today. He wrote a letter to Hezekiah to let it be known that he fully intended to take over his kingdom. Yet, he failed, as God intervened and defended against the takeover...

Steve ShultzDoesn't that already stir your faith? Read on and discover the keys that the Lord shared with Karen about this time we are living in. Take courage, saints! You are the remnant... and God is FAITHFUL. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

"How God Defends Against an Evil Takeover"

Karen Hardin, Tulsa, OK

Overcoming Overwhelming Odds

This isn't the first time an evil regime has tried to take over a nation, replace leaders and cut off the food and water supply. The Lord spoke to me about another era when a nation faced a similar attack and how they overcame overwhelming odds—and how we can do the same.

Our freedom is under attack, and the assault is not just against our nation. This is a personalized assault against our families, our cities, our states and our core values and beliefs. If you feel overwhelmed and without hope, let me encourage you today. Here's what we can do next.

In the days of King Hezekiah, the city was under threat of siege—just as we are now. The evil king of Assyria had more money, more troops and a more strategic position. He had a calculated plan for takeover—just like the one we see coming against us today. He wrote a letter to Hezekiah to let it be known that he fully intended to take over his kingdom. Yet, he failed, as God intervened and defended against the takeover (see 2 Kings 18-19)!

In the natural, the Assyrian king should have easily defeated Hezekiah, but he didn't because of the important steps—several in fact—that Hezekiah took, which opened the door for a miracle. These are the same steps we need to follow and implement as we face those who are intent on overthrowing our freedom by taking over our cities, states and nation. (Photo via Unsplash)

God Is Greater Than Those Who Threaten Your Annihilation

Hezekiah took the letter containing their threats, went up to the house of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord (2 Kings 19:14). Then he prayed, "...'O LORD God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made Heaven and Earth'" (2 Kings 19:15). He reminded himself that God was greater than those who threatened their annihilation.

He prayed, "Now therefore, O LORD our God, I pray, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the LORD God, You alone" (2 Kings 19:19).

Then the Lord responded via His prophet Isaiah: "...'Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard.'" (2 Kings 19:20)

It reminds us that God hears us when we call! He will not leave us or forsake us in our time of need. The effectual, fervent prayers of righteous men and women avail much (James 5:16)! The Lord told Hezekiah, regarding the king of Assyria, "'By the way that he came, by the same shall he return; and he shall not come into this city,' says the LORD. 'For I will defend this city, to save it for My own sake and for My servant David's sake'" (2 Kings 19:33-34).

When we pray, God will deliver our cities, our states and our land—especially if we approach Him in the same spirit as Hezekiah in the days of old. We will watch as some cities and states are delivered and some aren't; it depends on the remnant and prayer. The king of Assyria tried to cut off food and water from the city, but after King Hezekiah humbled himself and prayed before the Lord, the following happened: the Lord sent a spirit so that King Sennacherib heard a rumor and returned to his own land, where he was killed.

Remain Steadfast, With Eyes on the Lord

Despite the Assyrian king's plan to block food and water to force his evil intent upon the people, after King Hezekiah prayed, the Lord said, "This shall be a sign to you: You shall eat this year such as grows of itself, and in the second year what springs from the same; also in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat the fruit of them" (2 Kings 19:29). God provided and undid the damage of the evil that had been planned against them. (Photo via Pixabay).

The remnant of God's people who trusted in Him, prayed and walked with Him grew in strength and number. "And the remnant who have escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward" (2 Kings 19:30).

There is a remnant of God's people who, like Hezekiah, will enter the house of the Lord, spread out the threats and intercede on behalf of our nation. As God did then, I believe He will do again, as we stand fast and hold fast, for He never changes.

Do we prepare for a crisis? Of course. It is foolish not to be prepared with extra food, water, etc., whether for a natural storm or man-made crisis. We are to be wise as serpents, but harmless as doves. The key is that we are not to fear but to pray and know that He will deliver the remnant that remains steadfast with eyes on Him.
