Everyone Is Creative
I meet people all the time who say, "I'm not creative." I've met others who look to artists, poets, dancers, and musicians as "creatives." They say, "Let's get the creatives together." These types of statements make my skin crawl! Why? Because we've been fed a lie about creativity. The truth is, everyone is creative.
It seems that mankind in general is suffering from a corporate "creative block" of wrong thinking regarding creativity. A creative block, or barrier to inspiration, can be defined as the inability to access one's internal creativity. If creativity is internal, then it stands to reason that creativity must already be inside of you. Creativity is not a feeling or a talent that some possess and others do not; it is the Maker's mark on each of us. Genesis 1:26-27 tells us that every person has been carefully crafted in the image and likeness of the most creative Being in the universe.
The Maker's Mark On Us
From this understanding of creativity, we have three powerful conclusions:
1. Everyone is creative. Because every person is made in the image of the Creator, it stands to reason that each us is creative.
2. A creative block is a deception. We don't have to wait for a creative mood, gift, or feeling; we can access creativity through our original design as those fashioned in the image of the Creator.
3. Creative flow exists through divine design (often unconscious) and increases through divine union (conscious or practiced).
How do you practice your divine union? For those who are born again, it begins by believing that when you asked Christ to come in, He came. Even if you consider yourself weak at following Christ, remember that He is exceptionally good at possessing you. When you gave Him your life, He took it. This understanding of "Christ in you" is the key to unlocking many types of heavenly promises and potential, but it is essential to accessing the greater flow of your creative nature. So, 1) believe you are creative because God made you that way, and 2) believe with your heart that the Creator lives inside of you. (Photo via Pixabay)
Next, practice your awareness of His divine presence. This concept is a little more difficult to articulate. Awareness is a capacity of the human mind and spirit. As we ordinarily understand it, awareness is the ability to directly know and to perceive, sense, feel, or be cognizant of experience. We might think of awareness simply as the state of being conscious of something or someone.
The awareness of God's presence in you can be described as a knowing, a perceiving, a sense, a feeling, or just a cognizant recognition that He is with you and in you. Another word for this sense of awareness of God's presence might be "communing." Creating is communing. It is the exchange of common thought and feeling between Heaven and Earth. This is where true genius and great ideas come from – your divine union with the greatest mind in the universe. So, to increase creative flow, we must practice a greater awareness of the Creator within us.
By Reason of Use
Now, a word of practicality. Creative nature and divine union do not usually forego the need of natural practice. Many treasures of the Kingdom exist in seed form for us to first discover and then grow and develop into something greater. Every gift must be stewarded. One of the ways to get your creative juices flowing is to simply practice an existing or potential skill.
Divine flow does not negate hard work. Divine flow is like the oil on the machinery of your divine design. The machine of divine design works and pumps while the oil of divine flow lubricates and facilitates. For those who have followed the training method of Prophetic Company, we could say that in the same way we stir up our prophetic gifts through faith and activation, we can stir up our creativity through belief and practice.
You are creative. You can't help it; it's who you are. This year, you can increase your creative flow through belief, awareness, and practice. Stand on these biblical truths of the treasure of His creativity and a greater creative flow will be unlocked in you.
