"The Gift of Fortitude"

Recently, I was ministering on my broadcast, From the Mountaintop, and prophesying over someone. While I was prophesying, I heard the word fortitude over them. I was confused, because honestly I didn't know the exact meaning of that word. I mentioned the word to them but didn't go much further.

The next day, I was prophesying over another person and the same word came to me a second time. You have to know that I prophesy over people a lot and had never heard that word before. When I heard it a second time, I knew God was trying to say something to me. I asked the person to wait so that I could look up its meaning; I wanted to speak knowledgeably regarding this word.

Overcoming Fear and Willing to Take Risks

I discovered that with the gift of fortitude (courage), we overcome our fears and are willing to take risks as followers of Jesus Christ. A person with courage is willing to stand up for what is right in the sight of God, even if it means accepting rejection, verbal abuse, or even physical harm and death (from Wikipedia: The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit).

Fortitude really builds on our understanding and knowledge of God. Supernaturally, God's Word is planted inside of us by the Helper, who is the Holy Spirit, and He leads us into all truth (John 16:13). Isaiah 59:21 tells us that God plants His words inside of us and that those words won't depart from us or from our children or their children.

It is His Word inside of us that gives wisdom and knowledge. And then, with an understanding of His Word, we are planted in this world as those who represent Him. Fortitude is the strength to live from the place of the knowledge and understanding of the Word in the dark place of the earth. We are emboldened to live courageously by the grace of God for all the world to see. (Photo via Unsplash)

God's grace is sufficient for everyone. There isn't a single person who cannot live a life in Christ. He has made His grace available so that all who turn to Him can live boldly before the eyes of fallen man.

I Am Courageous Because Christ Is Courageous

We need Jesus' strength to be His witness, and His presence in us strengthens us for that task. Jesus' nature comes forward with courage because He is courageous. His life in me leads me to the strength that I need to live for Him. We are one in the Spirit; Jesus' life and my life are the same life, now that I am in Christ.

Jesus brings us from glory to glory and faith to faith. He will not fail you. He will help you to overcome and live in a place of breakthrough. You will see Him provide and you will see Him heal. This is the life we live in Christ.

Acts 4:31 (NKJV) says, "And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness." The disciples were afraid. They had a fear of man, but when they prayed, the Holy Spirit moved and they were strengthened and had boldness to go and speak. We all need this. It is available, just call out.

In order to enter into evangelism, we need this fortitude. We need courage. We need courage to do what we have not done before. We need courage to go, and we need courage to act and speak. It takes courage, and it is available. Again, just call out. (Photo via Unsplash)

Be Empowered by His Word

I declare that the Spirit of God is strengthening you in the understanding and knowledge of the Lord. I would suggest to you that David, when he faced Goliath, was acting in fortitude. He had worshiped the Lord in spirit and in truth, and the Lord had revealed Himself to David. David was strong because he knew how great his God was.

When you have this strength within you, which comes from meditation and the Word, then you can do great things. God empowers you, by His Word and through the Spirit, and the impossible seems possible. You learn to take greater steps of faith. Before you know it, you are standing before Goliath, the giant, cursing the evil that comes spouting out of his mouth, declaring that God's ways will prevail.

We need people of fortitude in this hour. We need people strengthened in the Word and by the voice of God. We need people filled with the presence, who will go forth in power. I declare that you are one of them. Get ready for His power to be revealed.
