Soaking music can be so useful in your devotional times with God. Each one of us needs to find a way to silence the noise, get refreshed, get rest, and be made alive to God's presence. Soaking music is a tool that can be used just for this.
There is so much power in melodies. When God anoints music, it has a powerful impact on us, helping us to enter into His presence.
The Spirit of Worship
One of the most important things about soaking music is the spirit of worship; you want to find music that has a genuine heart of worship behind it. This is the kind of soaking music that helps you enter into the presence of the Lord.
There have been innumerable times where I've needed to slow down and receive God's love in order to put my soul at rest. Holy-Spirit anointed music helps us sensitize our hearts and minds to His presence.
God Pours Into Us
God has so much to pour into us. The Holy Spirit pours out the love of God into our hearts. The more we engage the Holy Spirit in this way, the easier it becomes to connect with God in a more continual fashion. (Photo via Unsplash)
If you have difficulties connecting with God, or would want to experience God in a more tangible way, soaking music can be a big help. Whether it is instrumental music or worship, both can help you come into the presence of God. For prayer times, instrumental music works really well because you are not distracted by the words of song. When you are just hanging out, worship music helps to keep your thoughts focused upon the Lord.
There is nothing more important than to experience the reality of God's presence. Make every effort to live a lifestyle of worship and intimacy with God. His reward is with those who seek Him continually.
Getting Away From It All
What is soaking music? It is the sound of Heaven that connects us to the very person of God. Heaven is filled with worship, sound, and amazement. The goal of soaking music is to help us come into a greater encounter with God. Maybe it will only be for 5 or 10 minutes, but take some time to get away from it all today and rest in His presence; your day will be better having been with Him.
If you want to really get at one of the roots of where soaking music comes from, you'll need to go all the way back to King David, when he was worshiping God in the field with his harp.
Can you imagine? The world at that time was inconceivably simple compared to the time that we live in now. There were no skyscrapers or cars; there was not much noise to be heard—no cells phones, no internet—none of the things that we value as being so important in our modern day. It was in this paradise of scenic proportions that David found the Lord, and the Lord found David.
David learned the quiet stillness that only getting alone with God can provide. He learned how to enjoy just being in the presence of God. That is why he wrote, "Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere..." (Psalm 84:10).
How Far Back?
Who really knows when it started? Maybe with David...maybe with Abraham. Who knows? Maybe it even started with Adam! He definitely was covered with God's glory and presence before the fall. (Photo via Flickr)
Scripture says that when Seth was born, men started calling on the name of the Lord; that is a good thing. One thing we do know is that soaking in God's presence is very important to the life of anyone who calls on the name of Christ. Why? Because it is all about intimacy with God and spending time with Him.
It is about learning to be still in His presence to absorb the love of His Spirit into our hearts. Soaking music, as we know it today, is a way of using music to ride into God's presence more easily. The music is a tool to help our hearts get on God's wavelength. It is not that we need the music, but it does aid us at times as a springboard, helping us connect to the reality of His presence.
Soaking Music Is for Everyone
Soaking music really helps us to have a tangible experience with God. God not only wants us to know about Him, but more importantly, He wants us to know Him. You will find that soaking music is something which can be used to spend quality time with the Lord.
Learning to live in the presence of God is essential to our lives.
