The Echo by Marsha Burns

1 Samuel 30:6, "...David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.

It is important for us to encourage ourselves by reminding ourselves of God's Word and His power in our lives. What we say to ourselves and to others is vitally important. It will either bring forth good or bad fruit.

"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." (Luke 6:45)

Sometimes, we need to change whatever is in our hearts so that we can speak good things. The first thing we need to establish as heart truth is that we are not victims; we are victorious in all things. We sometimes need to change our attitudes before we begin to speak.

"And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, 'I believed and therefore I spoke,' we also believe and therefore speak." (2 Corinthians 4:13)

We need to examine what we really believe in our hearts about our condition and circumstances before we talk about it. That is where we can begin to make a difference in our lives.

We get what we believe and say, but not necessarily what we desire. We often forget that our sowing is also in our saying and not just in our doing.

"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap." (Galatians 6:7)

"Then He said to them, 'Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.'" (Mark 4:24) (Photo via Pixabay)

We need to hear the truth of the Word of God.

When I was a new Believer, I would read the Word of God out loud so that my eyes read the words, my mouth spoke the words, and my ears heard the words. It was very powerful. This is very similar to the vision of the man's voice echoing back to himself. When we live in the Spirit, we can (by the Spirit) call forth those things that do not exist as though they did.

Speaking Strength That Echoes Back

Speak things that bring strength to your body, soul and spirit – as you believe. These are some things that I believe and speak that echo back to me:

I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might! I have faith in God's Word and walk in perfect obedience. I walk in liberty of body, soul, spirit and finances. I am free from all infirmity and disease and walk in perfect health.

My soul is at peace. I am prospering in all things because it is well with my soul. I walk in the Spirit and do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. The word of truth is my compass.

"I walk in truth and humility. I live in the Spirit and my life is in divine order. I move in the flow of the Spirit. I maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. No weapon formed against me will prosper and every tongue that rises up against me, my family, or my church is condemned. That is my heritage as a servant of God.

This could be a time for you to examine what you have been speaking to yourself that has not brought life, health, prosperity and blessing. What is it that you believe in your heart about your circumstances? You may know the truth of the Word of God, but not believe it for yourself. If this is the case, you need to re-establish yourself in faith and speak the right things so that things will change.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word. What you hear, what you believe, and what you speak will set you on a path of righteousness and blessing or will pave the way to destruction. The good thing is that you get to choose. You will either produce good fruit or bad fruit. It's all up to you!

Stand in Strength by Bill Burns

Standing in strength means to stand in a position of faith, trust in the Lord, and to be full of the Holy Spirit, and thus, His power (anointing). Be strong!

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Ephesians 6:10-13)

Standing denotes a place of readiness, a place of strength in the Lord; a readiness for war against satan and his minions.

"Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints." (Ephesians 6:14-18)

This Is How We Stand

1. Stand in truth. John 8:32, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

2. Put on righteousness; the righteousness we have in Christ Jesus when He covers our sins with His Blood. 2 Corinthians 5:21, "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

3. Maintain peace with God. John 14:27, "Peace I leave with with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

"I, Therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." (Ephesians 4:1-3)

Let the peace of God rule in your heart.

4. Take up the shield of faith."Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one." (Ephesians 6:16) (Photo via Max Pixel)

Faith in God, and in His Word, will destroy the lies of satan!

5. Put on the helmet of salvation. "But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ..." (1 Thessalonians 5:8-9)

6. The Word of God. Keep your thoughts under the rule of God's Word. "For the Word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, both joints and marrow, and able to judge the reflections and thoughts of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)

7. Pray! "And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." (Matthew 21:22)

These seven things will become the armor of God that you wear. This armor enables you to stand in a place of security in the Lord and protected from the wiles (schemes) of satan.

Live in victory! You are standing in strength – God's strength.
