Dear Friends,
We have just come through Yom HaShoah, "Holocaust Remembrance Day," a day of commemoration for the approximately six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.
There are currently 192,000 Holocaust survivors living in Israel. So many have shared with me harrowing tales of the horrors they and their families endured, as well as miraculous stories of escape. With tears in their eyes, they have told me they believe they were spared to return to the land God gave their people. They see their lives in Israel as a fulfillment of prophetic promises.
Yet, in the midst of this miracle, they are struggling to survive. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many are housebound, unable to leave their home to shop for food and other essentials.
As Israel begins to open up, our Abraham's Bread Feeding Centers in Jerusalem and Tiberias continue to prepare hot meals that are hand-delivered daily to elderly Holocaust survivors through our "meals-on-wheels" program.
Watch the video below to hear Mimi from our Jerusalem feeding center share about our work to care for those in need.
I invite you to honor these precious ones and extend God's love in a practical way through a gift to Abraham's Bread.
Here are some of the ways your gift can be a blessing:
$9 delivers a hot meal to a shut-in elderly Holocaust survivor
$18 ensures that a couple in need have a warm meal
$54 secures a week of meals for a new immigrant
$270 provides daily food and Shabbat meals for a family of 5
May we never forget the horrors of the Holocaust, as we do our part so this evil will never again come upon any people group, and let us also stand now and care for those who have suffered so much. In doing so, we can give hope and help to those who need it most.
Shalom,
Robert Stearns
