From Chris Lascelles - A Missionary to America from New Zealand:
Dear Elijah List Family,
America is in trouble. The most basic liberties entrusted to us are slipping away, even as you read this message. Religious liberty, freedom to assemble, and freedom of speech to name a few—they are now routinely being curtailed on our watch.
America is in danger from the very oppression our forefathers escaped from!
On top of that, in the year America should be celebrating the 400th anniversary of our earliest declaration of liberty—the Pilgrim's Mayflower Compact—COVID has shut down all major celebrations of this stunning turning point in world history.
But our situation is more than just a domestic crisis and a canceled celebration of the Pilgrims arrival in 1620.
America is called to be a light to the nations
The Pilgrims defined America's global, multi-generational call to be a blessing to every nation on earth. This was their vision:
"...they cherished a great hope and inward zeal of laying good foundations, or at least of making some way towards it, for the propagation and advance of the Gospel of the Kingdom of Christ in the remote parts of the world, even though they should be but stepping stones to others in the performance of so great a work."
—William Bradford, Pilgrim Leader
They made a covenant among themselves and before God—the Mayflower Compact—that established a form of government that put them at liberty to fulfill their vision. Their ideas grew and developed, and we ultimately received the United States Constitution that serves the same purpose.
God warns us against forgetting His great works on our behalf: "and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which He had done for Israel" (Judges 2:10).
There is something you can do to help turn our nation back to God
November 21st is the exact 400th anniversary of the signing of the Mayflower Compact. At 2pm (EST) that day, myself and my team from Youth With A Mission in Tyler, Texas will be live-streaming from a historic location in Plymouth, Massachusetts. We will be calling young and old to restore America's most basic foundation stones, and then look at the future with "20/20 Vision for America."
