"10 Practical Steps to Consider While in Transition"

Lorilei Cooley, Scottsdale, AZ

In this month of October, I really felt from the Lord that this is not only a month of acceleration, alignment, and refreshing, but also a time where we are transitioning from one place to another. Many are about to find themselves in their new assignments and in a new place after the dust settles.

Moving from One Place to Another

I want to touch on the topic of "transition." What do you do when you are in transition? What should you expect during transition? What is the Lord doing in you while you are in transition? Probably many of us feel that we have been in transition one too many times, but transition is a good thing as it also signifies growth, advancement and promotion. We are moving from one place emotionally, physically, spiritually and sometimes geographically.

Transition isn't always easy and it can be uncomfortable. You're often not sure of what all is transpiring, where your next place is and when it will all be over. Sometimes it seems like it is carrying on, but that depends on what season you were in before you went into transition and where you are going.

For example, if you were in the wilderness for 3 years it may take a little while longer to transition out of that place because you were in it for so long. The Lord has to deal with the wilderness and captivity mentality, as well as bring your mind and emotions out of battle-mode and back into normalcy. He does this because when you were in a wilderness season, you were going through lots of processes, the refiner's fire and lots of battles. You have to emotionally and physically recover from all of that and from going through it for so long. The Lord has to gently reprogram your mind, restore cognitive thinking, and even bring your nervous system back into alignment from being in long, continuous and arduous battles and resistance.

Let the Lord Have His Way

One thing I have learned, that I share with others, is to surrender to the Lord and let Him have His way. Let the Lord do what He needs to do, and don't fight the process. It will be more detrimental for you if you resist Him the whole time. Once you allow Him to finish what He needs to do then you enter "A Place Called Transition." (Photo via Unsplash)

That is how you also know that you have completed your previous season, per se, and now you are moving on to the next level. Transition is also another indicator that you have gone through whatever processes you needed to go through at the previous level so you can now handle the promotion, upgrade and the next level that you are going into. The Lord has to refresh you emotionally, mentally and physically before you step into your next season.

Questions You May Have Pondered About Transition

What do you do when you are in transition?

Be patient and don't rush the process! Stay aligned with the Lord in what He is saying, leading and doing.

What should you expect during transition?

You may start feeling tired, wondering what's going on, and feel confused all the time. Don't worry, this is part of the process until you arrive at your next destination. Your mind has to catch up with all that that has happened and what you endured while you were in the wilderness. This takes time and, again, don't rush it or be in a hurry to get into your new place, season and assignment.

What is the Lord doing in you while you are in transition?

He is preparing you for your promotion. He will refresh, rejuvenate, and recalibrate your heart while you transition out of the wilderness and also restore peace of mind.

Here Are 10 Practical Steps to Consider While in Transition

1. Don't allow yourself to become overwhelmed in the process of transition by taking things on and putting more on your plate than you should.

2. Don't share everything with everyone. Not everyone is called to go with you into your next place.

3. Guard your heart diligently as you can't just let anyone into your innermost thoughts.

4. Let go of the people, places and mindsets that the Lord may be leading you to separate from, as it is imperative to do so, so that you don't get stuck in transition.

5. The Lord will bring the right people alongside you to navigate and propel you while you transition into your new season.

6. Don't stay stuck and rehearsing the past – thinking things like, "What went wrong?" or asking yourself, "Why didn't I do this?" or "Why didn't I see that or reiterate things?" Stay focused on what is ahead. (Photo via Pexels)

7. Keep a guard on your mouth and don't complain.

8. Stay in a place of gratitude and worship to the Lord.

9. Stay in a place of spending time with the Lord and communion with the Lord, staying close to His heart while you transition.

10. Lastly, be expectant, because if you are in transition it usually means you are moving into a place of promotion.

Scriptures for You to Mediate On and Renew Your Mind

"Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me Heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13-14)

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past." (Isaiah 43:18)

Prayer for You to Pray, Declare and Decree

Lord, thank You for the taking me through the fire – through the processes – and helping me learn what I needed to learn and understand so that I can teach and impart to others. Thank You for expanding my understanding and giving me wisdom in the transition and in the new place. Thank You for moving me into my new place of promotion and upgrade. Thank You that You have already gone before me and prepared the way. Thank You that there is supernatural grace, strength, peace and increase coming over me now into my mind, my heart, my body, my soul and my spirit. Let the heavens be opened over me, my family, my job, and my finances as I transition into a new realm of Your glory.

Lord, let the clutter, chaos and confusion be removed from my atmosphere as Your glory invades my atmosphere. Lord, show me what is for now and what is for later. Bring the right alignments, connections and provisional resources that are needed for the new season. Let me be in sync with Heaven and align into Your perfect timing. If there is anything out of alignment, bring everything into alignment according to Your will and Your Word. Lord, help me stay in a place of humility, honor and integrity as I step into my new season, amen!

Let this word impart, bring insight, bless, encourage and activate you for the month we are in. May it help you move forward into the new!

Grace and love to you all!

Lorilei Cooley was born and raised in Texas. She came to know the Lord in 2008 and from there on out, her life was never the same. She started attending a local church for a few years and began a process that eventually led to her ministry and calling to be a prophet. After years of preparation, training and equipping, the Lord relocated her to Chicago where she stepped into her new assignment and fulfillment of destiny. Although facing many obstacles and challenges in moving, the Lord helped her overcome some of the most difficult times of trial and some of her greatest fears. Throughout the years she has been learning the voice of the Lord on a deeper level to grow in intimacy with Jesus. Her heart is to encourage the Body of Christ through prophetic writings from the Father's heart, to hearing His voice and to awaken others into their true identity in Christ through equipping and training, teaching strategies, unlocking doors and breaking through dimensional barriers through healing and deliverance.
