For many years, prophets and intercessors have been prophesying that revival and awakening would sweep across America again and it would spread across the world. In the past couple of years, generals of the faith have been proclaiming we are entering a New Era as the body of Christ and we are closer to revival and an outpouring of God's Spirit than ever before.
I know awakening is coming to America and I believe it will come to regions that have a heart to steward revival and outpouring. It seems that key places throughout America have been catching on fire for God. These spots are called Revival Centers, Revival Hubs, and Apostolic or Kingdom Centers.
What do all of these places have in common? They are full of people who are hungry for a move of God, they hold prayer meetings and long to see the Holy Spirit move freely in the Church. I believe God will use many hubs, churches, and ministries in this new era to usher in the next great move of God. I want to share with you 11 signs that I believe will mark the new era for the Church.
11 Signs of the New Era Church
1. Great expectancy.
The first sign is that the New Era Church will have great expectancy. They will be a people who are hungry for God and are ready for more of Him. Matthew 5:6 says, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled." The Scripture starts by calling them blessed, then finishes by saying they will be filled. Proverbs 8:17 says, "I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me diligently will find Me." God is looking for individuals and bodies of Believers who are seeking Him diligently. Where He finds diligent seekers He will pour out His Spirit!
2. Increase in the power and presence of God.
I believe the second sign that will mark the New Era Church is that there will be an increased amount of the power and presence of God present in their gatherings. The glory is there and it's drawing people in. James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded." 3. Operating in the prophetic.
The New Era Church will flow in the prophetic. They will declare the word of the Lord over people, regions and nations. These places have many people who can flow in the gift of prophecy and are tapping into what God is saying over themselves and their geographical locations.
4. Prayer meetings.
One of the most obvious signs of the New Era Church will be that they are faithful in the place of prayer, both corporately and personally. More and more prayer meetings will be held as God begins to move in these gatherings. People will gather together and sow verbal seeds into the ground and cry out for a move of God's Spirit. Jeremiah 33:3 says, "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know." New Era Believers stand on this promise and they are ready for the great and mighty things the Lord will do!
5. Repentance.
A powerful sign of the New Era Church will be repentance. People will be so moved by the presence and power of God that they will begin to confess and turn from their sins. They will raise their standard of living to draw closer to the Lord and walk in His anointing and power. Groups in churches will start to hold one another accountable for things that they used to let slide. Holiness and righteous living will come from a place of passion and pursuit!
6. Studying past revivals.
When you find people studying old revivals and purchasing books on them, this is a sign of the New Era Church! People will be so hungry to see God move that they will want to learn about and glean from past revivals.
7. Opposition.
This sign is not popular, but New Era Believers will experience increased attacks and criticism from others. As long as you are having good, safe church meetings where no one can get offended, everyone will love you. However, as God's Spirit begins to move, the control of man will begin to weaken. Religious spirits and systems will be challenged and many will resist what God is doing. When Jesus asked the people a hard thing like "eat My flesh and drink My blood," the majority left Him. When awakening begins, God will require more of you. Some will be unwilling to pay the price and will be frustrated with those who are.
8. Private devotion.
Another sign of New Era Believers is that they will live by Matthew 6:6. Matthew 6:6 says, "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly." Those in the New Era Church will be devoted to the secret place. Each individual's private devotion will fuel corporate fire. You will find a shift in people's private time with God that will give them a new outlook on ministry and shift them into having a Kingdom perspective and mindsets. (Photo via Unsplash)
9. Signs, wonders, miracles and healing.
In the New Era Church, miracles and healing will be common and normal! Signs, wonders and miracles will be a regular occurrence for New Era Believers. At the Gate Beautiful, a man who was lame from His mother's womb was miraculously healed. This marked the beginning of miracles through the hands of the apostles. 2 Corinthians 12:12 says, "The signs of a true apostle were performed among you with all perseverance, by signs and wonders and miracles." It is a trademark left to us so that we would also operate in the miracle-working ministry of Christ. Miracles are the marks of a New Testament Apostolic Church.
10. Dreams, visions and the prophetic.
One of the key signs of the New Era Church is that they understand and operate in the prophetic through dreams and visions. Do you dream with the Lord? Did you know the Lord dreams? He releases His dreams, visions and prophetic words to His people. I have spent most of my life going after the voice of the Lord. Even to this day I long to hear Him speak. Acts 2 marks us as a people, when filled with the Holy Ghost, so that we will have visions, dreams and prophetic words. Acts 2:17 says, "'And it shall come to pass in the last days,' says God, 'that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.'" The Book of Acts Church operated in dreams and visions. They didn't have programs, they had dreams, visions and the prophetic word of God!
11. Harvest.
And finally, the New Era Church will be marked by a great harvest of souls. Souls being won into the Kingdom of God is a signpost to us that God is moving! In Acts 2, the results of the Holy Spirit being poured out was that 3,000 souls came to the Lord through believing in Him. A harvest of souls coming into the Kingdom will mark the New Era Church, and we will see the lost saved like never before because they will experience the raw power and presence of God through His people!
We have entered into a new era as the Church. Revival and outpouring are on the horizon for the Body of Christ. The best days of the Church are ahead, not behind! We will see an awakening in America that will sweep across the nations. The question is, will you be a part of it?
