"Walk into God's Truth and Goodness"

There is freedom in no other name under Heaven than the name of Jesus. Many people don't realize this simple fact: They can be bound by deception. What I mean is, there are thoughts that work in them to keep them from inheriting the fullness of what God has for their lives.

I will say this to start: Jesus came into the earth to die for our sins. The moment that you gave your life to Him you were redeemed and set free. There is only one salvation and that is in Christ. You are now eternal; you will live forever, and no man can even begin to understand the things that God has prepared for them (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Many of us have been walking in our own, self-made direction. Perhaps some of you have been hoping that God is in your plans when He isn't. Maybe there are things in your life that keep you from trusting Him and living for Him. He wants to radically change our lives, but in order for this to happen, we must learn to allow Him to be the captain of our ships.

Lack of trust is normal for people, and if you don't have a grid for the blessings of God then it is hard to surrender to Him. We learn to trust Him by living by faith. Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." In order to enter into a life that trusts God all the time, we have to live by faith.

It Starts with His Word

I want to explain a little about faith. Before we have personal knowledge and understanding of the goodness of God in the different areas of our lives, we really only have promises. We might have head knowledge of the Bible; we might have read that God heals, delivers, baptizes and sets free, but if we have not experienced this goodness of God for ourselves, then we remain in a place of foreknowledge. We might have hope that God will deliver us but we don't have personal understanding and knowledge of this.

God inspires our faith through His living Word. When His Word enters our hearts it begins to change us. It is living and transforms our inner selves. His Word inspires us to believe. That is why we need to be meditating on His Word daily, and that is why we need to be seeking Him daily.

Understanding and Believing His Immense Love

Paul prayed for the Ephesians this way: "I ask God from the wealth of His glory to give you power through His Spirit to be strong in your inner selves, and I pray that Christ will make His home in your hearts through faith. I pray that you may have your roots and foundation in love, so that you, together with all of God's people, may have the power to understand how broad and long, how high and deep, is Christ's love" (Ephesians 3:16-18).

The love of God is immense. He longs to bless our lives. He wants to set us free so that we can live the fullest of lives. I, personally, am convinced in this moment that God will bless me; He has shown me this. I have evidence of His blessings in my life that I can point to, and in my heart of hearts I know that my life will continue to be blessed. I know that my children will be blessed and I know that my grandchildren will be blessed. I know this because God has shown me this. No matter what comes against us, we will be safe in His arms. He will be our shelter, our provider, and our healer.

I speak to my future and tell it to come into line with the Word of God. I tell myself all of the time to come out of agreement with lies that have entangled my life and the generations of my family in the past. Their poverty and failure and my poverty and failure will not bind me, and by the power of Christ in me, I will overcome all things. Why...because Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33).

Recognizing and Destroying the Lie

Let me give you an example of how we can believe lies and how they affect our lives. The other day, I noticed that a friend of mine, who is a good man and a great preacher, had pain in his body, so I said to him, "Do you need healing?" But he said out loud, "My daddy told me when I was young that my health would not be good when I was older because I was wild in my youth." He said it like there was no choice but for it to happen. This was a word that had power in his life.

Now I recognize a lie when I see it, and I said to him, "That is a curse. Your father spoke that over you but it doesn't have to have power over you. God wants to set you free." Then I asked him to forgive his dad for what he had said and done. I also asked him to ask God what He thought of his health. After I had said this, in his heart of hearts arose a new thought: "God is going to bless me with divine health."

This is the truth in Christ. Christ is our healer. He came to give us life and to give it abundantly (John 10:10). The enemy wants to kill, steal and destroy, but not our Jesus. In Psalm 91:16 He promises us this: "With long life I will satisfy him..." God wants to renew your strength so that you live your years in fullness of life.

My prayer for you today is simple – may the Word of God so enter your heart that you recognize immediately the deception and lies that the enemy has spoken over you. May your heart be filled with peace and the love of Jesus. May all depression and fear be removed from you and may a new hope arise. I declare a new day of freedom in your life!
