"What is Your Inheritance in Jesus?"

Today, I want to share with you a dream I had recently. It has been quite some time since I felt I had a dream from the Lord, and this was one such dream.

I dreamed I was with my mom, and together we went to visit my uncles (they were my uncles on my dad's side, who are both with the Lord now). In the dream, they had tubs and tubs of pecans – tons of them. They were shelled and ready to eat. My uncles both told me to taste them, so I did. They were the best and biggest pecans I had ever had. Truly, they were incredible tasting.

From there, my mom and I went to another house. It was the home of a friend of hers who has gone on to be with the Lord. Mom went through her house to get some things that she said were her mom's heirlooms. We gathered them up and started out the door.

As we were heading out, my uncles called. They said they just received a call from Bryan College (a Christian college in my town) telling them it was time for them to come and pick pecans again. They asked if I wanted to join them. I told them yes, and asked if I could pick some too. They said, "Sure."

As we headed to meet them, I thought about the Scripture which says that we will still be eating last year's harvest when the next harvest comes (Leviticus 26:10). I was also talking with Mom about how many pecans my uncles had from last season and how they could sell them and make a lot of money, not to mention the ones they were going to pick.

Your Inheritance is Ready for the Picking

After I woke up, I went into the kitchen to do some things. I was pondering the dream, when suddenly I heard the Lord speak to my heart and say, "There is an inheritance ready for the picking."

Ephesians 1:11-14 says, "In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also trusted, after you heard the Word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory."

The Take Away

Several things stand out about this dream:

1. It was not yet the season for pecans, but harvest had come.
2. It was a time when we were still eating last season's harvest, yet the next season's harvest was there.
3. The place where we were invited to harvest was a CHRISTIAN place, high upon a hill.
4. I believe the nuts in my dream symbolize increase, reward for labor and something coming to fullness.

I believe the Lord is speaking clearly. He talks in the Word of God about a set time of favor. I think we are in that set time! I believe we are in a time of harvest and that the picking or reaping time is here. However, those pecans won't just jump in our buckets, we must harvest them. We must put in the sickle, so to speak, and bring in our harvest.

An Invitation to the Faithful

I believe this invitation is to those who are in Christ. It is time for Believers in God, those who have been found faithful in God, to reap their harvest. Today, as I was studying the Scripture in Leviticus 26:10, I realized something. This blessing, and it is a blessing, is the blessing of obedience. Only those who have been found faithful and obedient will taste of this harvest.

Isaiah 1:19 says, "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land."

Increase, our reward for labor and fullness, has come! It is our time to receive and take possession of our inheritance and all that entails.

Psalm 16:6 says, "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance."

I recently heard a pastor say, "It's one thing for us to know what belongs to us, it's quite another for us to have possession of it." God, through Christ, has given us a wonderful inheritance. It is time for us to possess it. It is time! I can't say that enough...it is time.
