I declare that you are about to enter into the wines of the Holy Spirit. In the season ahead, I feel that many are shifting out of some of the bad wine that they have been in and into the new wine of the Holy Ghost.
The Best Wine
What I love about the miracle that Jesus did with changing the water into wine was the reaction that the people had to the miracle. When they drank the wine they were wondering why someone would save the best wine until last.
The truth is, the wine of God's presence is the best wine there is. There is no greater joy or peace for a person than to be found in the presence of our God. Many of you have been wrestling. There has been torment and there has been anxiety and fear. Some of you have been struggling with the same fears most of your life, but I feel that this is about to change. I feel like God is saying, "You may have wrestled, but you will not wrestle anymore." Something greater is about to unfold in your life.
Patience in the Waiting
There are times when things shift in our lives. There are moments when our relationship with God begins to change and our maturity in Christ increases. One of the great fruits of the Spirit is patience. I used to hear people say, "Don't ask God for patience because He may think you mean it and make you wait a long time for something to take place." This is not a healthy attitude. Some things are worth waiting for. When we cultivate the gifts that come from the presence of God, we have better lives. His peace and joy in us are worth seeking with all of our hearts.
Over the last 15 years, I have been seeking God with my entire being. If what I have received so far is any sign of the increase that will come, as I seek Him the rest of my life, then I am glad to wait for all the things that shall come in the years ahead.
I know in my heart of hearts that my life today is nothing like my life many years ago. I can feel God's love and patience more easily. I am glad that I didn't push the Lord's lessons away. I am glad that I embraced my trials. They have produced things in me that I know are eternal, and He will do the same for you.
Perseverance for the Journey
It is better to embrace your cross than to get angry with God about it. Anger toward God will not produce anything important in your life. Anger toward God is pride, and pride will stop you from entering into the deeper places that God has for you. Stay humble, stay pure in heart, and let God's peace wash over you at all times. Let His mercy and His grace produce long-suffering inside of you.
The lower you go, the higher you will rise in Christ. When you face difficulties and trials, be satisfied. When you have to work hard for the Gospel, be thankful. When you want to give up, work a little longer. When you feel like you can't do anymore, stay strong and work twice as hard. Rest will always come.
I recently traveled across the continent, and in two months I drove 19,000 km. There were many times when I just wanted to stop, but I kept going. I finished the mission and feel very satisfied that I did. Whenever I am on a challenging missions trip, which is about 70% of them, there are times during the journey when my flesh wants to give up, but in those moments I stir myself up in the Lord and work harder than I have ever worked before.
I have chosen to persevere in all circumstances. There was a time in my life when I was not like this, and I would give up easily, but one of the fruits of the Spirit is perseverance and I have chosen to allow it to operate in my life by faith. When I have done all I can do to stand, I turn to Jesus and ask Him to make me stronger. He has not failed me yet, and as a result, I have done more than even I thought I could do.
Increase in the Wine
The wine of the Spirit is not just laughter, it is the character of God manifesting through me. His behavior becomes my behavior. His peace my peace. His joy my joy. His love my love. His patience my patience. His long-suffering my long-suffering. I believe that many are about to increase in the wine. They are about to become carriers of His presence in a way they did not imagine. They are about to assume the identity of the Son, and they are about to operate as sons and daughters of that Kingdom realm. You will no longer be overcome by bitterness and anger, but you will be forgiving and lovers of God and His people.
The wine of the Spirit is coming—the best wine. The greatest men and women that this generation has ever known are about to come out of hiding. These ones will be different. They will look into the faces of their enemies and love them completely. In a generation that has seen so much bloodshed, turmoil, conflict and hate, these ones will shine for the whole world to see. They will know that they are sons and daughters of the Most High God.
I declare that you are one of them and that you are rising out of the pits that you have been in! You are going to radiate like the sun. You will become Jesus to the lost and dying world, and you will be known as the people who love.
