This is a powerful word of the Lord concerning "doors to your future" from Sandie Freed:

While in prayer recently, I heard the Lord say, "I am releasing a fresh overcoming anointing to My people. I am giving My Body the ability to see beyond closed doors. I am breathing upon fresh revelation concerning their authority to use the Key of David. This key is one that unlocks and opens doors that appear closed and also to lock doors so that the enemy can no longer find entrance."

I immediately thought of Revelation 3:7-13 where Jesus addresses the church in Philadelphia. Let's take a look at this passage. I have highlighted several main topics which we will discuss in this article.

"To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:

These are the words of Him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open. 8) I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept My word and have not denied My name. 9) I will make those who are of the synagogue of satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars – I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. 10) Since you have kept My command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth. 11) I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12) Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of My God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of Heaven from My God; and I will also write on him My new name. 13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." (NIV, Emphasis added).

Let's dig in to gain fresh revelation from this passage. For years, many of us have been teaching about the "key of David". But just as the Scripture states, we move from one level to another in our understanding. Revelation is never hidden from us, it is hidden FOR us! However, it is revealed as we are ready to receive and gain understanding.

Jesus Holds the Key!

In this passage, it is clear that it is Jesus Christ, Himself, who holds the key of David. Everything door which that key opens cannot be shut. And, if Jesus shuts a door, it cannot be opened, especially a door the enemy attempts to open! This key, I believe, is connected to the Keys of the Kingdom that are given to us as Believers. If you remember, when Peter received the revelation that Jesus was, "...the Christ, the Son of the living God," (Matthew 16:16), Jesus gave Peter (the disciples and us as well!) the keys to the Kingdom with the ability to bind and loose. I like to use the Amplified Version whenever I am making my point concerning using these keys that Jesus has given to us:

"I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in Heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in Heaven." Matthew 16:19 (Amp, Emphasis added)

Notice that when we use these keys, we can only legally bind on earth what is already bound in Heaven, and what we legally loose on earth must be already loosed in Heaven. I like to say it this way: Sickness is not in Heaven; therefore, I bind sickness; it has no legal right to be here! Or: There is no poverty in Heaven; poverty has been loosed from Heaven. Therefore, I bind it from attempting to rob me of my financial breakthrough!

The Significance of David

Believers, we have been given keys to unlock whatever has been closed to us by using the keys of the Kingdom and the key of David! I asked the Lord, "Why does the Lord refer to the key of David? Why not say the key of Abraham, the key of Joshua or maybe even the key of Moses?" After all, they were powerful men of God!

Let's observe some important facts concerning David:

1. David was a man after God's own heart. If we want to properly utilize the keys which God releases to us, we must have his heart concerning the situations. Many doors won't unlock if we are decreeing breakthrough and open doors with selfish motivations. Even when David fought great opposition, even sinned greatly, he humbled himself to God's hand and ultimate direction.

2. He remained focused in his passion. Even when no one was around, David worshiped. While alone in the wilderness tending sheep, David worshiped. When he gained victory over Goliath, he gave God all the credit. This proves integrity of heart. David knew where his strength was – in God alone!

3. David continually saw (prophetically) beyond closed doors. If you recall, it took approximately 13 years (some say more!) for David to become king. In those interim years, David endured much suffering. He ran for his life, hid in caves, yet somehow he overcame his despair. I believe it was because he knew in his heart what God had said concerning his destiny, and he continually saw beyond every closed door!

4. David was an anointed overcomer. Notice in Revelation 3, it mentions the necessity to be an overcomer. In one of his greatest trials, he was able to see beyond defeat. Upon returning to Ziglag, to a city which was given to him by the Philistines, he found his city burned to the ground, all the wives and children taken – nothing was left! The Amalekites had raided his city and stolen everything. His men were upset, to say the least, and threatened to stone him to death.

5. Rather than run away or try to defend himself, David called for the ephod (representing the presence of God) and encouraged himself in the Lord. How did he encourage himself? I believe he reminded himself of the Word of the Lord concerning his destiny. David remembered he had not yet become crowned as king and, therefore, strength arose within him to rise up with commanding strength and lead his army to defeat their enemies. As a result of seeing beyond closed doors, his men and he overtook the Amalekites and recovered all!

David's life was such an example for us today. So important was he that Jesus Christ forever sits upon the throne of David! Wow! Now that's something to take note of, right?

Using our Keys

God is continually speaking to our potential. He has spoken promise after promise either through His Word, through a prophet, a dream, a vision or through revelation concerning each of our futures. Yet, what is our response when we are up against a wall of opposition? We must begin to rise up and overcome! We must use our keys, see beyond what seems closed and impossible, and speak to every mountain that attempts to discourage us or cause us to doubt what God has promised. (Photo via Wikipedia)

Take a moment and find one of your keys that you have on hand. Does one of them unlock a door in your house? Take the key and unlock a door and as you do boldly decree:

As I unlock this door, I am performing a prophetic act and decreeing that every door that is locked is now unlocked and open! I decree that my words from God are yes and amen. Today, I am encouraging myself in the Lord. What He has spoken will come to pass. I decree that I have a courageous heart like David and that as he did, I completely surrender my life to My God. I will praise my God in all that He does. In Jesus' name, amen!

Breaking Off the Enemy's Tactics Concerning Your Future!

Believer, I have been witnessing many people battling a spirit of Jezebel in this season. Jezebel has many demonic characteristics, but one main thing this spirit does is falsely prophesy to God's children concerning their future. This spirit is very sly as it speaks negative words concerning your ability to fulfill divine destiny. I highly recommend two books to empower you in this season: Breaking the Threefold Demonic Cord: How to Discern and Defeat the Lies of Jezebel, Athaliah and Delilah and The Jezebel Yoke: Breaking Free from Bondage and Deception.

Jezebel wants to yoke you to the point that you are weak and unable to open doors that appear closed! It is this particular spirit that directly opposes all that can be accomplished when you use the keys that God has released to you in this season! Dear ones, I want you free and an overcomer! God is giving you a new name and these books (above) will empower you to overcome and walk out the words that God has spoken to you.

My prayer for you: Father, I thank You that Your children are not weak. You have stated that we have been given the power to trample our enemies. You are empowering every Believer to speak to every spirit of opposition that stands in the way of breakthrough. Thank You for the keys of the Kingdom and thank You for the keys of David.

Today, we use these keys to bind the enemy that is attempting to close doors and we loose his evil tactics from hindering us. Thank You for the power to overcome. Thank You for our new name. No longer are we weak, fearful and defeated! No! We are strong, courageous, empowered by the Holy Spirit and experiencing victory after victory after victory. Amen!
