Your Voice is Not Insignificant! Together - We Can Heal Our Land!
If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
Watching the evening news is enough to cause even the strongest person to lose heart. We hear reports of civil wars, terrorism and chemical warfare used against the innocent. But we need not lose heart because God has given His people a promise and a key to seeing healing come to their nations.
For many years I had the honor of traveling with a team that hosts national gatherings in many nations. I have watched as more than 10,000 people came together to worship God. Together they humbled themselves to pray, seek the Lord, and repent. I have watched healing come to people groups as worship united hearts in ways that could only be supernatural. I have watched hearts change, enemies become family, and forgiveness bridge breaches that seemed insurmountable.
Over the past few years I have not been traveling in order to focus on my own family; our children have undergone their transitional years from teens to adults (graduations, college, weddings and the birth of our first grandchild).
Recently, I found myself struggling with the sense of not having a place, or voice, in what God was doing within the nations. Then I remembered 2 Chronicles 7:14, and was reminded that we all have an important part to play in God healing our land and healing the nations. As each one of us humble ourselves, prays, seeks His face and turns from our sins, we are allowing healing to flow.
You Are Significant!
It is easy to feel connected with what God is doing when you are with thousands of others and seeing God move before your eyes; but when you are at home, alone, it can leave you feeling a bit disconnected. You may be a man or woman who is out in the marketplace full-time doing tasks that seem trivial and insignificant; you may be the mother of small children, and your days are filled with comforting crying babies, washing dishes, making peanut butter sandwiches, doing mountains of laundry, then finishing your day too exhausted to even kiss your husband good night; or you may be a young person that just feels like no one is listening to you.
But, no matter who you are...God is listening! I have been all of those things: a full-time working wife, a stay-at-home mom of little children, and a young person (even though that was more than 25 years ago). Your qualification for being someone who can be instrumental in seeing God heal your land is based on only this: Being one of His people!
If you are among God's people then you can be a nation changer and history maker! If every Believer would follow the instructions in 2 Chronicles 7:14, then think what would happen in our homes, cities and nations.
Distraction has been one of the enemy's most strategic tactics to keep God's people from following the instructions in this verse. He takes pleasure in throwing business, chaos and adverse circumstances at us to keep us from praying.
The interesting thing is that if we were to take the time to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, then even our own personal circumstances could also be healed.
You are not insignificant! If you are in the workforce full-time then you can help to heal your land as you drive to work or as you stay in an attitude of prayer throughout your workday. If you are a stay-at-home mom then you can pray as you clean those dishes or make those sandwiches. If you are young, then use that amazing energy you have to pray and use this time to turn from any wicked way that has a hold on you before you enter your adult years.
Does God use the mass gatherings that seem to break strongholds that are upon nations? Yes! But God heals the land to receive that breakthrough through His people who live on that land. You are the ones who prepare the soil to receive what the Lord sends.
Now is the Time
Now is the time for God's people to shake off the sense of insignificance which produces apathy. Rather than pointing our fingers at our nation's leaders and those in authority, let us know that it is us – God's people – who bring healing to the land. God is listening and ready to move, to forgive and to hear the prayers of His people. He sets us free from our own wickedness so that the land can be purified.
There may be a ripple effect that happens in governments, but there is also a ripple effect that happens when individuals humble themselves and pray, seek and turn away from sin. The breakthrough that we see in the mass gatherings begins in the lives of those individuals who have followed this truth.
Together we can see God heal our land!
