"Health Update: Love Never Fails!"
Update on Health and Related Issues by James Goll
Wow! A lot more has happened since I last communicated with you on all these health related issues. I am constantly being asked questions about Michal Ann and my health situation while on the road or even at home in the Greater Nashville area. It is a blessing that so many people pray, care and inquire. Then there is another side to this thing.
To be honest, it does really get old – sometimes I have no idea who knows what – where do I begin – how much is too much – how much is too little. So sometimes, I have to take a deep breath, sigh a bit, and realize once again, I need to communicate because people care.
So before I get going any further with this, let me apologize to some of you if I have acted impatiently, intolerantly or stood aloof. I really do not mean to – I just wish it were all over and I could give one last "hurray" – that we are both totally healed, restored, the enemy has paid back seven times of what he stole, and everything I touch has turned to gold. But we are still not there yet. But we do still continue to fight!
Another thing on my heart to say - I want all of you to know that even if Michal Ann has not or even at times cannot tell you herself in writing or in a verbal way, whether right now or even over the past three years or so, if she could, she would tell you all, "I LOVE YOU LIKE CRAZY! KEEP PRAYING AND KEEP BELIEVING WITH ME FOR A MIRACLE!"
Then I want to say another thing (sounds just like a preacher doesn't it!) - OUR FOUR KIDS ARE MY HEROES RIGHT NOW! I love all four of them so much! I am so proud of each one of them. I talk about my kids on the road all the time. I brag on each one of them. Thank you Justin (24), Grace Ann (21), Tyler (20) and Rachel (18) for hanging in there on the roller coaster ride of life that we've been on as a family in the past 6 years of cancer ordeals. Thanks for sticking in there with me in all my moody, topsy-turvy stuff. Thanks for not pulling away into a wrong independence and getting all bent out of shape and bitter at God, the Church or even your mom and me. I am proud of you and so glad to call all four of my gorgeous, destiny-pursuing, hot young adults – friends! Now how awesome is that! U ROCK!
Okay – So Here is an Update
Michal Ann's cancer markers have risen rapidly lately. They are back to 22,000 or even higher. She is doing pretty well mentally though. The swelling has gone down a lot in her brain and she is clearer mentally. We thank the Lord for that! But the cancer activity has recently exploded again.
Just to make sure that you understand and that we are on the same page, Michal Ann will go in for chemotherapy treatment this Monday, August 11th around noon. She is in Harrisburg, PA right now for our annual "Women on the Frontlines" conference. She will be there for as much as she can.
She flies back home on Sunday with Kathy Colbert in the afternoon. She will then take a type of chemo treatment on Monday, where she wears a fanny pack full of meds until Wednesday. Then she goes back into the clinic on Wednesday when it is empty and she gets the pack removed.
She will do the same routine as before. The following week, she just goes in to get her blood work done and certain levels checked, plus whatever other blood work the doctors merit necessary. Then the following week she does chemo again. So, chemo treatments will begin this Monday for every two weeks until further notice.
The doctor is being very careful that old patterns do not repeat for which we are so appreciative. So that is pretty much it! Wish I had great news to tell you, but it is on the way!
Speaking from a Transparent Heart
Right now, personally speaking, it is even hard for me to talk about Michal Ann. I am running out of words to say. I think I am reaching another place where I personally need the Lord to meet me and renew and sustain me. It has been quite a draining experience to say the least! It has really messed up our finances (we were a two income stream family) and there have been lots of other wear and tear effects.
But I do know where to turn – to our dear Father and Lord – and I do! I love Jesus just as much as ever. I still turn to the Body of Christ and not away in retreat. I still care and I still am engaged in the LOVE WAR! Show up with me on that one!
But there are a few times I still just break down and weep, and sometimes I just want to hide my face or something like that. I just want to pretend like it is just a bad dream and all I have to do is wake up and it will all be over. I just want it all to be done and I never want to live life like this again. Period!
But hey – I live in a real world where real problems exist and I have to play with the deck of cards I have been dealt. I cannot afford to be negative and be complaining and blame shifting. It never wins. It never will win in the end for anyone.
So what choice do I have? Michal Ann and I still choose to keep on fighting for life in this LOVE WAR. REMEMBER, LOVE NEVER FAILS!
So there ya have it! Ain't too glorious an update right now – but we are living one day at a time sweet Jesus! That's all I know to do!
By the way – isn't Jesus just fantastic? And always remember, we are one day closer to our breakthrough!
