for the 2006 Elections"
 Dear Prayer Warriors,
The upcoming election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, is a key and critical time for
the shifting of our nation. There are many key statewide ballot initiatives,
such as Marriage Amendments and Abortion decisions, both pro and con. There are
important races for seats in the Senate and House of Representatives. Our Senate
will affirm our President's nominations for the Supreme Court Justice, therefore,
those elected to this office are critical at this time.
The National Governmental Prayer Alliance exists to educate
and activate the Body of Christ in governmental intercession. Below I have
written a Prayer Guide to assist you and your church or prayer groups as they
intercede through the last 21 days before the elections.
This season of
intercession begins on Wednesday, October 18. In alignment
with our mission, we ask that you act, as well as pray. There are tips for
educating yourself on the candidates and ballot issues in your state. And, do
not forget to vote!
If you are a pastor or prayer leader, please consider hosting special corporate
prayer meetings for your church or group through this season of intercession. If
you are not, please consider asking your church to host some corporate times of
intercession or gather a group of your friends for this purpose. If that is not
possible, adding a significant slice of time for intercession for the nation
during regularly scheduled services would be great.
We will be doing all of the above here at Freedom Church. We have distributed
the Prayer Guide. In addition to special corporate services, all of our prayer
groups, small groups, and home groups will put aside time to pray for the
elections. We have asked that every individual and family in the church take
time daily to pray for this. Even our children and youth will be praying! We
always incorporate intercession for the nation into our general service worship
times. We also recommend some form of fasting, at least one meal occasionally,
throughout the 21 days. Fasting helps us focus on God and His purposes.
Feel free to forward this on to anyone you know who will pray. Copying the
document for the purposes of distributing it for prayer is fine as well.
21-Day Prayer Focus
October 18: Worship God and thank Him for all that He has done to shift our nation
up to this point. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord and the people
whom He has chosen for His own inheritance." Psalm 33:12
October 19: Get your mind ready to believe that God can make some radical shifts in
the nation on November 7. Determine to line your mind up with His Word and
will, and not with the circumstances, especially not with media reports! Repent
of any doubt and unbelief. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
gives to all men liberally and without reproach, and it shall be given him. But
let him ask in faith without wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the
sea driven with the wind and tossed." James 1:5-6
October 20: Find out what the election issues in your state are, especially the
moral issues. Is there a marriage amendment on the ballot? Is there an abortion
issue on the ballot? Know which way you need to vote on the issue. Determine
that God's will, will be done in your state! Be BOLD and decree the passage or
failure of these issues in your state.
October 21: We reap answers to prayers for our own needs as we sow into others
needs. Try to find information on another state's ballot issues. Pray for them
as you are praying for your own today.
October 22: For elections that affect you and your family, find out what candidates
are running for which offices at the state, local, and national levels. Who do
you want to represent you and why? Know if their ideology and character line up
with God's Word. Pray for those candidates to have favor with God and man.
Decree open doors for them in accordance with Isaiah 22:22.
October 23: Just as you prayed for another state's ballot issues, pray today for
another state's candidate's race.
October 24: Praise God victoriously for He is doing marvelous things!!
"I will sing
unto the Lord for He has triumphed gloriously!...The Lord is my strength and
song and He has become my salvation. He is my God and I will praise Him; my father's God, and I will exalt
Him! The Lord is a man of war; the
Lord is His name." Exodus 15:1-3
October 25: Pray for President Bush today. Ask the Lord, in accordance with
Proverbs
3:5-6, to continue to lead, guide, and direct him, as he leans on, trusts in, and
relies on God. Pray as thoroughly for him as you can.
October. 26: Pray for your current Senators and Representatives. If you don't know
who they are, go to www.senate.gov and
www.house.gov to find out. The websites
will also show you what bills they've sponsored and what congressional
committees they serve on. Pray over those matters.
October 27: Pray for the political races of your state's incumbent Senators and
Representatives. Pray that the God-fearing and moral will retain their seats. Do
not be afraid to pray the doors shut to those who have not represented your
state well. This is the other side of Isaiah 22:22, to shut doors that no man
can open.
October 28: Pray that the Lord would position Congressmen and women in office from
every state who will work together to make this nation God-fearing and moral.
"Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord that
is faithful and the Holy One of Israel and it is He that chooses you" Isaiah 49:7.
And, "He changes the times and the seasons. He removes kings, and establishes
kings. He gives wisdom unto the wise and knowledge to them that know
understanding" Daniel 2:21
October 29: Determine to vote on November 7. If you have not registered, find out
if it is still possible for you to do so in your state. Most state's deadlines
will have passed. If you have registered, determine to vote. Repent of any
apathy you have had. Repent of any mindsets where you may have felt your vote
didn't matter. Repent of any religious thinking or "separation of church and
state" thinking you may have had that Christians should stay out of the
governmental arena. We cannot shift our nation unless we all ACT as well as
PRAY!
October 30: Understand that those that are elected into office represent you and
your family. Commit yourself to do whatever you can from now and into the future
to insure that your values are represented by your elected officials. Ask the
Lord to give you a change of heart and mind that takes future responsibility for
this arena of influence, including making your desires known to your officials,
getting to know them, if possible, and committing to pray for them regularly.
October 31: Ask the Lord to remove the lie of "Separation of Church and State" from
this nation's governmental philosophy and from believers mindsets! There is no
such language in the Constitution. The wording of the Amendment is "Congress
shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the
free exercise thereof."
The intent of the Constitution's framers was to prevent
a state-run religion, such as England's Anglicanism, headed by the King. In a
letter to the Danbury Baptist association in 1802, Thomas Jefferson assured them
the Constitution would not ever limit an individual's free expression of
religion, reiterating the Constitution's intent. Jefferson's statement was
turned around by an activist court in the 1947 case, "Everson vs. Board of
Education," to mean that the framers meant to keep religion out of government.
This ruling has become one of the greatest enemies of God in our nation today.
War against it today! Use the sword of the Lord, the Word of God, and strike it
down in the spirit!
November 1: Pray for our Supreme Court. Decree that God will set judges upon the
bench of our highest court that will not legislate from the bench, but who will
adhere to the Constitution's original intent. Pray that the Justices will rule
morally and in the fear of the Lord. Thank the Lord for Chief Justice John
Roberts, Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito. Ask the Lord to give
us more Supreme Court Justices like these men. "And I will restore your judges
as at the first and your counselors as at the beginning." Isaiah 1:26a
November 2: The prophets have been saying that there will be two new Supreme Court
Justices coming soon. Pray that nothing will delay this change to the Court.
Pray that President Bush will choose these judges wisely and in the fear of the
Lord. Ask the Lord to give President Bush the mind of Christ, as he has
professed Christ as his Savior. Pray against political pressure, positioning, and
advantage.
November 3: Pray for South Dakota and the passage of Referendum 6, affirmation of the
South Dakota's "Yes for Life" bill. This referendum will affirm the passage of the
strictest pro-life law in the nation. Other states are watching to see what
happens with this situation. A number are positioned to introduce similar
anti-abortion legislation in their states if this passes! What's good for South
Dakota, is good for our nation!! This looks like the way God will strike down Roe
vs. Wade in the United States--one state at a time. Boldly shut the door to
abortion and a death culture in our nation.
November 4: Pray that all state Marriage Amendments on the ballot this fall will
pass. This is the way God will close the door to homosexual marriage, benefits
for civil unions, and domestic partnership benefits in the nation. Once most of
our states have passed these state constitutional amendments, we can believe God
to pass a Marriage Amendment to our national Constitution.
November 5: Terrorism and homeland security are two very real concerns over the
nation right now. It is not possible for an administration to fully protect our
nation, whether domestic or overseas. The Word of God says in Psalm 127:1,
"Except the Lord watches over the city, the watchman watches in vain." Thank the
Lord for watching over our nation and releasing His angelic hosts to this end.
November 6: The secular media are attempting to mold our thinking regarding the
upcoming elections. As in recent past elections, they are already proclaiming
winners and losers, and telling conservatives and the religious right that our
cause is lost. DO NOT believe what you read. Most Americans desire a shift
toward morality.
If every Christian who could vote did vote on
November 7, we would
quickly shift this nation! Shut the mouth of the Accuser by praying and voting!
November 7: Worship the Lord for today we shall see the victory!!
Isaiah 9:6-7,
"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given. And the government shall
be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the
mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of
His government and peace there shall be no end; upon the throne of David and
upon His Kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with
justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will
perform this!"
