It's Already There for You
I had a very interesting dream recently. In my dream, I was in my house when suddenly a friend's daughter appeared at my table. She was much younger than she is today, probably around seven or eight years old, and she was sitting with me and eating breakfast.
She turned to me and said, "Rosangela, yesterday you made me realize that all the things we take for granted are not there because they magically appear. They are there because someone has taken the time and care to place them there while we're not watching—things like clean clothes in the drawers, clean sheets on the bed, and food in the fridge... everything we need."
I said, "That's so sweet, Cassidy. You're right! While you're at school, playing with your friends and going about your day, your mommy and daddy go to work and take care of all those things for you and your siblings so that when you need them, they are already there for you."
This Is Gold!
Then the scene changed. I was standing in a field that looked very dry. Suddenly my friend, the little girl's mother, arrived. She was pushing a giant cart that looked like one of those enormous sleds pulled by dogs in the arctic, and it was packed high with things. There was food, clothing, furniture, books, tools, plants—everything you would find in a household and more.
I asked her, "Hey, Angela, where did you go?"
She said, "I went to the Curse Collector!"
I repeated what she had said with a very inquisitive tone and expression on my face, "The Curse Collector?"
She said, "Yeah. He takes all the unfruitful things in your life and plants them in His garden. Then, when those things have multiplied and produced as much fruit as they possibly can, you go and collect them from His field."
I suddenly became aware that I was dreaming, and I realized the significance of what I had just heard. I jumped out of bed, exclaiming, "This is gold!"
I knew the Lord had just revealed something to me, and I needed to write it down before I forgot it. When I looked at the clock, it was 3:58 a.m.
Remember that number, because I will come back to it.
Someone Who Loves You Has Been Thinking About Your Needs
Let's unpack this dream. The little girl's name was Cassidy, which means "curly-haired." Cassidy represented to me and how God sees me as His precious little curly-haired girl, whom He loves unconditionally. But what stood out to me was what Cassidy learned. (Photo via Flickr)
She realized that the things she needed did not magically appear. Someone who loved her was thinking about her needs while she was simply going about her day. While she was at school, playing, learning and living her life, her mother and father were working, preparing, and making sure that when she came home what she needed would already be there. She understood who she was to them, and because she understood who she was, she could trust who they were to her.
She was their beloved daughter. They were her loving parents. She did not have to spend her day worrying about whether there would be food in the refrigerator when she came home, whether there would be clean clothes in her drawers or clean sheets on her bed, or how everything was going to get done. She could simply be their daughter, because she trusted that they would be her parents. And that is what the Lord was showing me about my relationship with Him.
Throughout the years, He has taught me that I am His beloved daughter. I have learned that His love for me is not dependent upon my perfect performance. I have learned that He is my Father, that He loves me, and that He knows what I need before I even know that I need it. He has been preparing things while I haven't been watching. He has already gone ahead of me. He has not only prepared what I need to live a full and blessed life, but He has also prepared everything I will need to accomplish what He has planned for me before I ever arrive at the assignment.
He reminded me of a passage in Ephesians:
"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:4–10 ESV)
If He prepared the works beforehand, then He also knew what I would need before I arrived at them.
What Does It Mean for Something to Be Cursed?
In the dream, the dry field I was standing in represented all the dry areas of my life where I have not seen much growth. They are the places where—no matter how much I water them, nurture them, fertilize them, pray over them, fast over them, invest in them, declare over them, decree over them, or prophesy over them—they have manifested little or no fruit. They almost seem cursed.
But what does it mean for something to be cursed? To be cursed is to have something working against the blessing, fruitfulness, multiplication, or intended purpose of a person or an area of their life. I believe the Lord was showing me that some of the barrenness we have experienced has been connected to curses and words spoken against us—sometimes deliberately and sometimes out of anger, jealousy, hatred, or envy.
There are people who, like Haman, have looked at someone with resentment in their hearts and spoken against their success, their family, their marriage, their children, their ministry, their business, their calling, or their future. There are word curses that have been spoken by parents, spouses, authority figures, friends, enemies, and even people who once claimed to love us. There are curses that have been spoken in envy over what God has placed upon our lives—curses intended to discourage, diminish, delay, or destroy what God intended to make fruitful.
There are also curses we have unknowingly spoken over ourselves, with statements such as "Nothing ever works for me," "I'll always struggle," "I'm never going to succeed," "Nobody wants what I carry," or "I'll never get out of this."
There are generational curses and destructive patterns that have continued through families. There are curses that have come from inner vows made out of pain—agreements with rejection, shame, fear, scarcity, unworthiness, failure, and limitation. There are curses that have come from believing lies about ourselves, our identity, our abilities, our productivity, and what God has called us to do. (Photo via Unsplash)
There are destructive judgments that have been spoken over our future which we have unknowingly come into agreement with—things like spells, incantations, witchcraft, occult assignments, and evil intentions directed toward us. There are what I would describe, prophetically, as curses of barrenness, fruitlessness, stagnation, delay, premature loss, wasted labor, drought, devouring, obscurity, limitation, lack, and failure. There are curses that have seemed to resist fruitfulness in our wombs, marriages, families, finances, businesses, ministries, creativity, influence, purpose, calling, and the work of our hands.
Some curses have been spoken against us, some have been spoken over us, some have come through destructive generational patterns, and some have been intentionally devised out of jealousy, hatred, and envy. Some became agreements we began speaking over ourselves because, after years of disappointment, we started believing the barrenness was our identity.
There are things we have been desperately trying to make fruitful. We have watered, prayed, fasted, declared, decreed, prophesied, invested, cried and nurtured, while at the same time, without even realizing it, our own words, mindsets, fears, inner vows, limiting beliefs and distorted beliefs about ourselves—about God and about what is possible for us—have been working against the very harvest we have been praying for.
With our mouths we have declared, "God is going to do it," while somewhere deep within us we have believed, "It will never happen for me." We have prayed for increase while believing we are not worthy of receiving it. We've prayed for visibility while being afraid to be seen. We've prayed for provision while expecting lack. We've prayed for healthy relationships while believing we cannot trust anyone. We've prayed for fruitfulness while continuing to speak death over the field.
Without realizing it, we have sometimes been watering the seed with our prayers while uprooting it with our words and agreements. Then we have wondered why the field has remained dry.
He Took the Unfruitful Things and Planted Them in His Garden
However, in the dream, the Curse Collector did not reprimand or judge me. He simply took the unfruitful things and planted them in His garden.
This is where I believe surrender becomes so important. There are things we need to stop trying to fix, control, and force into fruitfulness in our own strength. We need to relinquish the fear, control, limiting beliefs, inner vows, destructive words, and our agreement with what has been spoken over us, and give Him the unfruitful things.
In the dream, when the Curse Collector received them, He planted them in His garden. And in His garden, what had been barren began to produce. It produced fruit, and it continued and multiplied until it had produced as much fruit as it possibly could. Then it was collected and returned. What was surrendered when it was barren came back carrying its harvest, multiplied.
This immediately reminded me of Deuteronomy 23:5: "The LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loved you" (ESV).
He turned the curse into a blessing. What had been intended to work against fruitfulness was reversed. This is where Haman strongly came to mind. Remember what time I woke up? 3:58 a.m.
Esther 3:5–8 tells us that when Haman saw that Mordecai would not kneel or pay him honor, he was filled with rage. His hatred became so great that destroying Mordecai was no longer enough for him. He devised a plan to destroy Mordecai's entire people, and in verse 8 he went before the king and began putting that plan into motion. (Photo via Unsplash)
Haman is a powerful picture of how hatred and envy can give birth to a destructive plan against another person. What began in Haman's heart became an intentional scheme against Mordecai, his people, their lives and their future. However, what Haman devised against God's people was reversed.
Psalm 35:8 describes this kind of reversal so powerfully: "May ruin overtake them by surprise—may the net they hid entangle them, may they fall into the pit, to their ruin" (NIV).
Haman built the gallows for Mordecai, and Haman died on those gallows. He prepared a trap for another man and fell into the very thing he had prepared. Esther received Haman's estate, Mordecai received Haman's position and authority. The man Haman wanted destroyed was elevated and the people he wanted annihilated were delivered. The plan was reversed.
I believe this is what the Lord was showing me through the Curse Collector. There are things that have been devised against your fruitfulness:
• Words spoken against you,
• Curses spoken in envy, hatred or jealousy,
• Things spoken by you,
• Things inherited,
• Things believed and agreed with,
• Things intended to delay, devour, steal, bury, diminish or prevent the harvest God intended for your life.
But the Lord is inviting His children to give Him the unfruitful things.
God Is Sending His Angels to Bring Back the Fruit Plus Interest
Give Him the barren places, the things that have stalled; the things that have been delayed, withheld, or devoured; the things that have been spoken against you; the things you have unknowingly cursed with your own words and beliefs; the assignments, dreams, prayers, books, songs, ministries, businesses, relationships, opportunities, and works that have experienced stagnation or have never produced the fruit you knew they carried the potential to produce. Let Him plant them in His garden.
In my dream, when my friend Angela came back, that enormous cart was not carrying only material things. It's fullness represented the fruit of ministry, assignments, answered prayers, books, songs, ideas, dreams, opportunities, provision, relationships, purpose, and all the works God had prepared beforehand for us to walk in—everything that had experienced stagnation, stalling, delay, withholding, or barrenness; everything that should have multiplied but hadn't.
Angela, representing an angel, was bringing it back—fruit plus interest. I believe the Lord is showing me that He is sending His angels to bring back the fruit, plus interest—everything the enemy has stolen, withheld, delayed, eaten, devoured, sabotaged, buried, blocked, denied, or attempted to make barren in your life all these years.
What Haman devised against God's people was reversed, and I believe the Lord is showing me that He is about to bring reversal and multiplication into the barren places of the lives of His children who will surrender those places to Him.
Give Him the unfruitful things. Relinquish the control, fear, striving, limiting beliefs, and agreements with the curses and words that have spoken barrenness over what God called fruitful, and allow the Curse Collector to take care of the field. Let Him take what has been barren in your field and plant it in His garden. The Curse Collector is coming to turn those dry bones into an exceedingly great army!
