Jeffrey Hardwick: The Question God Is Waiting to Answer

Jeffrey Hardwick, Round Rock, TX
Aug 30, 2026

Have you ever wondered why the Lord seems to leave certain questions unanswered? You've asked Him repeatedly, yet you hear silence. Many times, we ask the Lord questions that He has no intention of answering, simply because it's entirely possible He doesn't want us to know the answer.

Why would a loving Father remain silent when His children reach out? Perhaps it's because He isn't withholding an answer; He is waiting to ask you a question of His own.

Several years ago, the Lord revealed a life-changing secret to me. It's a prayer He will always answer, simply because it's the very question Heaven is waiting to hear from us. As I asked Him this question, it opened up the floodgates to so many other questions He was willing to answer.

Guaranteed Answer

Here is the divine question He will answer every single time: "Lord, what questions do You want me to ask You today?"

When you begin asking Him this question daily, expect Him to respond with His questions. But it gets even better: not only will He reveal His questions, but He will give you His answers, too. Imagine how a shift like this will transform your prayer life and deepen your intimacy with the Lord.

So, what actually happened when I began asking the Lord this life-changing question? It opened up possibilities from Heaven that directly unlocked a new depth of divine revelation in my life. The more I asked the Lord His questions, the more I received His answers.

He then led me to James 4:2 and asked me to do something I've never heard of before. At the very end of that verse, where it says, "you have not because you ask not," the Lord spoke to my heart and said, "Remove the 'nots' from that verse." Suddenly, the light came on: We have because we ask!

Asking leads to having. Since only the Lord knows what He wants you to have each day, why not just ask Him? Looking back, you may realize you've spent years asking Him for many things that were never actually His will for you. Remember when Jesus taught us to pray, "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done" (Matthew 6:9–13)? That is a prayer Heaven will answer every single time. (Photo via Pexels)

Be Prepared for His Answers

Be expectant when you ask what questions He wants you to ask Him. Make sure you are ready when He begins to reveal His questions and His answers. Always have something ready to write them down on. Once I ask the initial question, what has worked best for me is then asking, "What else, Lord?" That simple step keeps the conversation flowing. If He seems quiet, simply ask, "Is there anything else, Lord?" Then go back to the first question you wrote down and ask Him directly. As He responds, write down the answers He shows you.

Next, put into action what He shows you. James 1:22 reminds us to be doers of the Word, not hearers only. Whether the Lord is speaking through Holy Scripture or directly to our hearts, He expects us to follow His instructions. Even if He asks you to step into something you've never done before, always remind yourself: you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

The Lord will never ask you to do something you can't accomplish with Him. Best of all, He never asks you to do it alone. He is always with you, and He will never leave you or forsake you.

My Favorite Question from the Lord

One day, the Lord revealed to me the most liberating and freeing question I have ever received. He knew my heart desired to see others set free. I knew that everything He speaks is completely true, and He was about to hand me a question that would unlock decades of deception from the enemy.

When I shared this with a friend who has been in ministry for over twenty years, he admitted it triggered the deepest sense of "letting go" he'd ever felt. It brought him into a completely new depth of trust, surrender, and freedom with the Lord. This question set my friend free and enabled him to believe what is true in Scripture. (Photo via Unsplash)

Have you ever meditated on the promises in the Bible, yet seen only a small shift in your circumstances? That's about to change today. This question targets the root, reshaping what you believe at both a subconscious and unconscious level.

When you ask this question, frame it around a promise from God's Word. This life-transforming question is simply "Why is it true [insert Scripture promise]?"

For example...

• "Why is it true that by Jesus' stripes I am healed?"

• "Why is it true that my God supplies all my needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus?"

• "Why is it true that whom the Son sets free is free indeed?"

The Lord made you to ask questions. He wants you to ask His questions so you can receive His answers. You know what He says is true, and now you have simple and doable instructions to believe His promises once and for all.

1. To start the dialogue, ask, "Lord, what questions do You want me to ask You today?"

2. To keep the conversation flowing, ask, "What else, Lord?"

3. To listen for anything remaining, ask, "Is there anything else, Lord?"
