Dear ElijahStreams Family,
PRAISE REPORT!
A few months ago, I wrote to you about a young boy in Uganda named Christopher.
His own father, in a fit of rage, tied him up and set him on fire. Can you even imagine?
Christopher survived, but the burns were so severe that his fingers fused together and he lost the use of his hand.
A lot of you prayed. A lot of you
gave to help make his surgery happen.
Well... I've got an update for you!
Christopher had the surgery. And Mike and Lori just sent me these
new pictures.
Take a good look at him. Do you see what I see? You didn't just help pay for a surgery.
You gave this boy his LIFE back!
I'm talking about the simple stuff. The things you and I never even think about.
Going to school. Writing on the chalkboard in front of the whole class.
Carrying his own jerry can of water. Washing his own clothes. I mean... come on!
You know what I see when I look at these pictures? I don't just see a hand that's healing. I see a boy getting his confidence back. I see Christopher becoming Christopher again.
Praise God!
ANOTHER PRAISE REPORT!
Do you remember little Grace?
She's the three-year-old whose mother stopped at a stranger's hut, asked for a cup of water, and while the woman went inside to get it... set Grace down in the dirt and walked away. For good.
When our friends at Show Mercy found her, she weighed just fifteen pounds. Fifteen pounds, at three years old. They weren't sure she'd make it through the night.
Well... I've got an update on her too!
Because of YOU, Grace got the care she needed. She got put on a nutrition program, and our friends at Show Mercy walked with her every single step.
And you should see her now!
She's healthy. She's strong. She's doing everything a three-year-old should be doing.
But you know what I love most? They tell me she's just a jolly little thing now. Laughing. Playing.
And
YOU did that.
Praise God!
ONE MORE CHILD...
As I was celebrating these two praise reports, Lori called me with another story.
Oh, my goodness. This one broke my heart.
It's about a girl named Kevin. (By the way... she's only 17.)
She's a total orphan. She lost her father to suicide. Then she lost her mother to malaria, because there wasn't money for the medicine. A few dollars... and her mama would still be here.
And that wasn't even the hardest part.
Kevin was just doing what every girl in her village has to do.
Walking a long way through the bush to get water. And on one of those walks, she was attacked. Because of that attack, today she's raising a baby all by herself.
Now listen to this.
We had already drilled a well near Kevin's village. And when our team went back to follow up, just to see what God had been doing... that's when we met her.
Do you know what this girl said to us?
She didn't ask for a thing for herself. Not one thing! She looked at the team and begged:
A 17-year-old orphan, raising a baby, carrying more pain than most of us ever will... and all she wants is more wells for the next girl.
And you know what Lori told me next?
Kevin goes to a little church called Yahweh.
YAHWEH.
Do you know what that name means?
It's the name God revealed to Moses. The great "I AM." The Redeemer. The One who hears the cries of His people... and comes down to deliver them. And I thought... Kevin has no idea what God is about to do.
He's about to reveal Himself to her as Yahweh.
And here's the best part. He's letting us help. You and me. The whole ElijahStreams family.
With your help, we can drill another well in her area. And we're going to help provide the food and medicines she needs. And wouldn't it be wonderful to help her learn a trade so she can support herself and her baby?
Christopher. Grace. Now Kevin.
