Prophetic Words Are Like Seeds
Every one of us has received prophetic words throughout the years that still have not come to pass. Some of you have received words from personal prophecy, while others have heard them directly through the Word of God or the Holy Spirit. Often when receiving a prophetic word, it will usher in a season of warfare. Sometimes the enemy tries to steal the seed that was planted, and at other times, God will test you to cultivate that seed (James 1:2–4; Psalm 66:10).
Wage a Good Warfare
"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses." (1 Timothy 6:12 NKJV)
In the book of 1 Timothy, Paul encouraged Timothy to wage a good warfare concerning the prophecies that he received. The Lord wouldn't have given him such a command if he wasn't going to go through spiritual warfare. The Holy Spirit is showing me that many of you have become disheartened because the prophetic word that you received has yet to manifest in your personal lives, families, and ministries.
There is always a process, a journey between receiving a prophetic word and it's coming to pass. That is why as 1 Timothy 1:18 instructs that we are called to wage a good warfare with that prophecy, and to fight the good fight of faith:
"This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare." (NKJV)
A Tale of Two Trees
The Holy Spirit often speaks to me through nature. One time He gave me this analogy of two trees. Two distinct seeds were planted in the same field and at the same time.
The first seed was a cherry blossom tree seed, and the other was a sequoia tree seed. Each seed received identical care, provided with the same sunlight and water. The cherry blossom tree grew quickly, flourishing beautifully, with brilliant pink flowers and bright green leaves. But the sequoia seed seemed to be taking a long time to show any signs of growth. As time went on, the cherry blossom tree continued to grow and flourish. The sequoia tree, however, didn't appear as if it was going to amount to anything. (Photo via Pexels)
After some time, the sequoia tree began to grow, towering over the cherry blossom tree. It multiplied in size, eventually surpassing it in height, width, and overall proportion. The sequoia tree took longer to grow because it required stronger and deeper roots to support its tremendous size. Neither tree was insignificant; each served its unique purpose. Although the cherry blossom tree was beautiful to the eye, the sequoia tree grew to be the tallest and strongest tree in the world.
Don't Let Go!
In the same way, some of you have promises that are taking longer to manifest, because they are more extensive and wide ranging. Don't let go of the prophecy that has been given to you, no matter how long it takes. Your promise will come into fruition just as these two seeds did. Every one of us is unique, and so is every promise, each exclusively designed. When His word comes to pass in its appointed time, you will see it's vastness and be amazed at what Jesus has done in your life and ministry.
"O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge—by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith." (1 Timothy 6:20–21 NKJV)
