Spring Speaks to Me
I love this time of year. I have probably said that every year about this time, but I truly do. I love watching my garden grow. Knowing the Bible principle of sowing and reaping, it never ceases to speak to me.
I love how my plants love the rain. Sure, I can water them with a hose, but life flows into them when rain falls on them. It's the way of God. I get excited just thinking about fresh bell peppers, crispy cucumbers, green beans, and onions. These always do really well in my small garden.
When Harvest Doesn't Make It to the Table...
There is something I have tried to grow, several times, that never actually makes it to my table. My granddaughter loves watermelon and I love cantaloupe; I have tried to grow them year after year. I don't have any trouble growing them. My problem is the deer. (Photo via Pexels)
Each year, I watch as the melons are just about ready to be picked; it is at that same exact time, the deer come and take one bite out of the harvest and walk away. It really is frustrating. For that reason, I didn't plant melons the past few years, but this year I did.
I have thought about it a lot and am preparing for the harvest of watermelons and cantaloupes. I have a plan. Each time I think about my plan, I think of this Scripture in the Old Testament:
"Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes." (Song of Solomon 2:15 NKJV)
You see, the deer do not bother the melons until they are ripe. That is the same thing this Scripture is talking about. The little foxes don't attempt to spoil the vines until the grapes are ready.
The Indicator Your Harvest Is Ripe
The enemy doesn't come to steal the harvest UNTIL the harvest is ripe and about ready to be picked. If the enemy is attempting to steal your harvest—whether it is health, peace, restoration, or finances—it is because the harvest is ripe and ready to be picked. I think that is good news.
It is not a time to get frustrated or disappointed because the little foxes are attempting to spoil your harvest; it is actually a sign that harvest is here! Harvest is ready to be received and harvested.
Protecting Your Harvest
So, what do we do?
Well, this year for my harvest of watermelons and cantaloupe, first of all, I have elevated my garden to a taller planting bed so that it won't be easy for the deer to get to. Also, when my melons are about ready to harvest, I intend to cover them at night so the deer can't even see them.
To protect our harvest that we are expecting from God, we can take it to an elevated level by choosing to think only the thoughts of God concerning our promise. His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts; therefore, we can elevate our thinking to align with His so the enemy can't touch our harvest. It will be out of his reach. (Photo via Pexels)
Also, we can keep our harvest covered in the blood of Jesus—another place the enemy cannot go. Daily plead the blood of Jesus over your harvest of health, wholeness, freedom, debt freedom, and provision. The enemy cannot cross the bloodline of Jesus Christ.
Be encouraged, if there are little foxes attempting to spoil, there is already a harvest. Remember, they wouldn't be there if there wasn't something of value to steal. When the foxes show up, it is a sure sign harvest is here. Rejoice in that and be exceedingly glad. Harvest is here!
