Micah Level: A New Beginning - From the Proving Ground to the Promised Place

Micah Level, Richmond, Indiana
May 21, 2026

Intro from Christa Elisha:

Steve ShultzI am pleased to introduce my dear friend, Micah Level, to The Elijah List readers.
I have personally walked with Micah and his wife, Meredith, in ministry and friendship for the past five years. Our families have walked together through deep valleys of persecution, pain, and purification—the kind of valleys that strip a man of every false thing and leave only what was real to begin with.

These days, when it comes to prophetic ministry, the most important thing I consider when receiving a prophetic word is whether the prophet releasing that word carries Christlike character and integrity in all things. I can say with confidence, after watching Micah and Meredith's journey, that if there ever was a man after God's own heart, who earnestly and consistently desired to know the thoughts, the emotions, and the will of God in all things, it would be my friend Micah.

His apostolic and prophetic ministry has been a profound source of inspiration, equipping and encouraging both me and my family. I have no doubt it will have the same impact on The Elijah List family abroad. I encourage you to read the word the Lord has given him with an open heart. It will not return void.

The Dawn of a New Beginning

The end of the last beginning was not truly an ending—it was the dawn of a new beginning. What felt like a conclusion was, in the hands of God, a commencement. The season you survived was never meant to stop you; it was designed to start you. Like the children of Israel, standing at the edge of the Jordan, what looked like a barrier was actually a threshold. God was not closing a door—He was opening one no man could shut.

"See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut." (Revelation 3:8 NIV)

The proving ground of your last season led to the promotion you are stepping into today. Every test has a purpose. Every trial carries an assignment. God did not allow you to walk through that season to break you; He walked you through it to build you. David was proven in the fields before he was crowned in the palace. Joseph was proven in the pit and the prison before he was elevated to the palace. And you—you have been proven in the hidden places, and now God is releasing you into the open places.

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him." (James 1:12 NIV)

The test led to the testimony, and there must be a test for there to be a testimony. You cannot testify of what you have not walked through. The very weight of what you carried in the last season is the very weight of the glory you now carry. What was pressed into you is about to pour out of you. The testimony you now hold in your hands is not just your story. It is someone else's survival guide.

"They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony." (Revelation 12:11 NIV)

God Was Forming Something Priceless in You

Like a grain of sand inside an oyster that slowly, painfully becomes a pearl, the frustration and irritation of your last season was forming something priceless within you.

The oyster does not choose the irritant. The sand arrives uninvited, unwelcomed, and uncomfortable. Yet layer by layer, in the dark and in the deep, something of extraordinary value is formed. The very thing that caused you the greatest agitation was the very thing God was using to produce the pearl of great price within you. What the enemy sent as an irritant, God used as an instrument.

"Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it." (Matthew 13:45–46 NIV)

You are that pearl.

Like a diamond forged from coal under immense pressure, the weight of what pressed against you produced a strength in you that cannot be manufactured, only formed.

Diamonds are not made in comfort. They are made in the crushing deep, where heat and pressure work together over time to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. The pressure you felt from the enemy—the weight that bore down on you in this last season—did not destroy you. It defined you. What came out of the pressure is not the same as what went in. "We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." (Romans 5:3–4 NIV)

What the enemy intended as your destruction in the last season was the very thing God used to propel you into your next. Hell designed a detour. Heaven designed a launch pad. The enemy's plan to slow you down became the very runway God used to accelerate you forward. Every attack was a miscalculation. Every scheme backfired. Every weapon that was raised against you ultimately became a witness to the faithfulness of God.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28 NIV)

You Are a Seed

Those who tried to bury you in the last season did not know that you are a seed. They thought they were burying a failure. They thought they were covering a conclusion. But seeds don't die in the ground—they awaken. The very place of burial became the place of breakthrough. The grave they dug for you became a garden. And now, out of that ground, new life is springing forth—fruit that will remain, fruit that will multiply, fruit that will feed others who are still waiting for their own spring.

"Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." (John 12:24 NIV)

You had to experience the death to step into the resurrection.

There is no resurrection without Good Friday. There is no empty tomb without the cross. What felt like death in your last season was actually a divine transition—the necessary passage from one glory into another. God did not abandon you in the tomb. He was working in the darkness. And just as He rolled the stone away for His Son, He is rolling away every stone that has stood between you and your resurrection moment.

"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die." (John 11:25 NIV)

All of It Was Necessary: The Doorway Into Your Next Chapter Was Through the Fire

The warfare, the accusations, the gossip, the false witnesses, the lies, the assassination attempts on your character, the stretching, the surrender, the deep inner healing, the deliverance from every demonic oppression—all of it was necessary. Not one tear was wasted. Not one sleepless night was unseen. Not one moment of warfare was without purpose. Every single layer of the last season—the fire, the flood, the wilderness, the waiting—was preparing you for the weight of what God is placing on you now. You could not have carried the next without being processed through the last.

The doorway into your next chapter was through the fire. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you came out of that fire without even the smell of smoke on you. There was One walking with you in the flames all along.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." (Isaiah 43:2 NIV)

This is your hinge moment. This is the doorway. Step through.

The last season is fully behind you now. The new is fully before you. Heaven is leaning in. The cloud of witnesses is watching. And the God who brought you through is the same God who is leading you forward. This is not the beginning of the end. This is the end of the beginning, and everything that is coming is greater than everything that has passed. (Photo via Unsplash)

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." (Isaiah 43:18–19 NIV)

The Key That Carries Absolute Authority

There is a key of David that opens and closes doors. It is a key that was spoken of in the ancient prophecy of Isaiah—a key that carries absolute authority, unquestionable access, and irrevocable permanence. It is the key of David, and it rests on the shoulders of One alone.

"I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open." (Isaiah 22:22 NIV)

This is not a key held by your enemies. This is not a key held by those who spoke against you, those who tried to close your chapter before God had finished writing it, those who locked doors in your face and declared your story over. The key—the only key that matters—belongs to Jesus. And He alone decides what opens. And He alone decides what closes.

When He Closes a Door, It Is Finished

There are doors behind you right now that God Himself has shut—relationships that ran their course, seasons that fulfilled their purpose, assignments that were completed. There were chapters that were closed by the hand of God—not by failure, not by the enemy, not by the opinions of men but by the sovereign hand of the One who holds the key.

Do not spend another moment pressing against a door that God has shut. Do not exhaust yourself trying to reopen what Heaven has sealed. When God closes a door, no amount of human striving, manipulation, or desperation can pry it back open. It is finished, and finished does not mean failed. Finished means fulfilled.

What God closes, He closes with purpose. He closes it to protect you from what is behind it. He closes it to redirect you toward what is before you. He closes it because the next door He is opening requires your full attention, your full faith, and your full forward momentum. Stop knocking on closed doors. The key is not in your hand, and that is not an accident. God closed it. Let it be closed.

"Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead." (Philippians 3:13 NIV)

When He Opens a Door, Nothing in Hell Can Shut It

But hear this: when God opens a door over your life, it is permanent. It is settled. It is secured by the authority of the One whose name is above every name, whose word stands forever, and whose purposes cannot be thwarted by any power in Heaven, on earth, or beneath the earth.

No devil can slam it shut. No accusation can revoke it. No betrayal can disqualify it. No delay can cancel it. No person—no matter how powerful, how influential, how determined to stop you—can close what Jesus has opened. Not one hand raised against you has the key. Not one voice speaking against you has the authority. The enemy can rattle the door. He can stand outside it and roar. But he cannot shut what God has opened. (Photo via Unsplash)

Jesus Himself declared it in Revelation: "These are the words of Him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut" (Revelation 3:7–8 NIV).

He is speaking that over you today. He sees your deeds. He sees what you have walked through. He sees the faithfulness in the fire, the worship in the wilderness, the surrender in the storm. And He is saying, "I have placed before you an open door, and no one can shut it."

You Are Standing at an Open Door

The door before you was not opened by your ability. It was not unlocked by your connections, your reputation, or your performance. It was opened by the One who holds the key, and because He opened it, it will remain open until you have walked fully through it and completed everything He has called you to on the other side.

Walk through it without hesitation. Walk through it without looking back at the doors that closed behind you. Walk through it knowing that the same Jesus who carried you through the fire, through the wilderness, through the warfare and the waiting is already on the other side of that open door, beckoning you forward.

What He opens, no man can shut. And He has opened this for you.

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." (Ephesians 3:20–21 NIV)

The best is not behind you. It is before you. The door is open, the key belongs to Jesus, and He has called you through. Step through.
