"Churches
at Heart of Hurricane Katrina Disaster Response"
August 30, 2005
Churches and other Faith-based organizations are always to be found providing comfort
and relief in the wake of all types of natural and man-made disasters. The same
is true in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina . . .

(June 6, 1999):
" . . . New Orleans . . . surely destruction is coming that way!"
Plus, Steve Shultz on New Orleans: "Is this Judgment or Mercy?"

FROM THE PUBLISHER
OF THE ELIJAH LIST, STEVE SHULTZ:
This
may come as a surprise to many of you, but even among prophets, prophetic people,
and intercessors, we ask among ourselves what we are discerning about such tragedies
as what is now taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana; Mississippi, and Alabama.
Our questions are the same as your questions:
-
"Is this judgment
from God, or is this an attack of Satan?"
-
"Could God have stopped
this, or did He choose to allow it for HIS purposes?"
-
"Have we sinned in certain
ways that opened this door for this attack?"
-
"Are we reaping what we
have sown, either through blatant sin or through a sloppy and unholy Christian walk?"
-
"Is this related to Israel
-- or other people groups -- and how the USA has responded to them?"
-
"Is God answering the prayers
of the Saints by allowing this, because we have prayed for revival?"
-
"Is God giving a prophetic
word through this event?"
-
"Is God showing mercy,
grace, and compassion that none of us even deserve in the midst of all of this?"
-
"Which of these is true
-- if we only knew?"
I've developed an exact answer to the questions above. But are you ready for
it?
Here is the answer I have gotten, I believe, from the LORD . . .
IT'S ALL TRUE!!
Every question can be answered by the answer, "Yes, that's true."
"How can that be?" you may ask.
Here is the Scripture that most epitomizes what I'm hearing:
Romans 11:33-36
"Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of
God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!
'Who has known the
mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?
'Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?'
"For from
him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen."
(NIV)
If a thing -- a catastrophe -- is allowed by
God, in one sense it is from God, because He could have stopped it, either by His
sovereignty, or our prayers, or our choices.
But we can, and we MUST, still fervently pray and repent to avert
future tragedy.
But it IS an attack of Satan, or why else would Jesus have REBUKED
the wind and calmed the sea?
But we HAVE asked God for revival, and we WILL see revival out of
this.
God's judgments are not always His punishment, but rather, in Romans (above) we
see that all of His judgments are UNSEARCHABLE . . . they are HIS DECISION.
For instance, if God decides that it's time for you to move to a new city, He has
made that "JUDGMENT," but that does not necessarily mean you've done one thing wrong
. . . He has simply made a decision, and His decisions -- His judgments -- are just
and true.
But, we are also told that whatever we sow, we will also reap:
Galatians 6:7, 8
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps
what he sows.
"The one who sows
to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who
sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." (NIV)
There is so much more that can be said, but this
is enough for today.
Please read below what we posted by Cindy Jacobs on June 6, 1999.
In it, she offers both rebuke and mercy, love and judgment, etc. It's all there.
To read the complete transcription of the word, click on the link for that full
word below. There's a lot more to it. We are told by Cindy to put down our stones,
but we are also told about God being not so happy with our obsession with entertainment.
You decide: is it a word about love or judgment? Rebuke or mercy?
I think the answer is: "Yes, it is -- all of the above."
Please pray intensely for these hard-hit areas and those victims of this awful tragedy.
Remember that Jesus promises mercy for those who show mercy.
This is a good time to donate to the RED CROSS or
SALVATION ARMY. These organizations are all "on the ground" helping
with the biggest tragedy ever to hit the United States of America.
Blessings in intercession -- praying for justice, judgment, mercy, grace, and TRUTH!

(June
6, 1999, posted on THE ELIJAH LIST) The Lord said, "I sit in judgment of My
body that has not loved the prostitute and those bound in sexual sin, and I have
judged them for selling their bodies. But, it is your sin that has stopped
them. You have allowed this through your lack of love. Throw down your stones.
I will bring lightning to Las Vegas, and the electricity of this city will go out
for six days, and you'll know that the God of Heaven has spoken." I don't know if
six days is a sign of man or a literal six days.
Mardi Gras. Oh, I see a river. The Mardi Gras spirit is the spirit of entertainment.
Because of the hours you give over to TV, video, and filth, you have no power and
judge Bourbon street. "You have worshipped at a temple of idols, made by the god
of entertainment. Repent now, repent now."
The Lord just tells me, "You don't know how to repent." Lord, teach us how to repent!
I speak to the god of entertainment. You have made a covenant with the spirit of
entertainment and with Hollywood and with death. Loose them; leave them. Loose them
now. (Spoke in tongues.) I break every soul tie.
We've spent more time with the computer than with the Living God. Oh, God, do this
all over Your Church in America! The Lord is showing me -- Oh, we can't even touch
that! But when it gets enough, and His bowl/cup in Heaven is full,
He is going to rain on New Orleans, for surely destruction
is coming that way.
BUT, if you will pray, He is going to tip the bowl -- then the river of His Spirit
will fall. Bourbon street will have new wine, and the Lord says, "I'm going to send
the young, my young people, the righteous into these streets, and they're going
to heal transvestites. They'll have sex change operations just like that. I'm going
to give them what they need. I'm going to be their Lover!"
