Candace Roberts: The Reprieve Is Already Here!

Candace Roberts, Conway, AR
Nov 9, 2025

Introduction from Rosangela Atte:

I have had the privilege of knowing Candace Roberts for several years through Facebook. Over time, we have connected deeply, as we share very similar gifts and passions, which naturally drew us toward one another.

Candace is a devoted wife and mother, as well as a gifted and anointed writer, mentor, and Kingdom entrepreneur. Her writings are inspired by the Holy Spirit and carry a beautiful balance of heavenly revelation and practical wisdom. Her very life is a living testimony of God's restorative power, and I am confident her words will bring encouragement, breakthrough, and blessing to every reader.

The Reprieve Is Already Here
By Candace Roberts

I sense many crying out for a reprieve. I myself have uttered these words a time or two. This word "reprieve" kept coming up in my spirit, so I felt led to inquire further. When I looked up the definition, I had a humbling realization. The dictionary defines a reprieve as a cancellation or postponement of punishment, especially someone sentenced to death. It could also mean a desire to escape a difficult situation. (Photo via Unsplash)

The moment I read this definition, I had an instant perspective change. Through my wilderness season, through all the trials and tribulations, I thought I had kept my heart pure. I didn't ask "why," or blame God for anything that had happened. However, here I was asking for a reprieve. This definition exposed a root that I didn't know was there. Somewhere deep down, after the long waiting and long suffering, I grew tired. The open door to the tired weariness was the belief that I was being punished, that somehow I deserved what was happening. I had come into agreement with a lie.

The Breaking in the Wilderness

For a moment I lost sight of the truth and, in return, I lost hope. The breaking that happens in the wilderness is always painful. It can feel like your very life and breath are being taken from you. In the wilderness is where the great exchange is supposed to take place. Here, you are completely emptied, delivered of all self-resilience, and filled with HIS strength—a strength you could never have on your own.

The afflictions we bear in this life, especially for those completely sold out and in love with Him, are real. However, the reprieve comes in knowing that our punishment has already been canceled. The moment Jesus breathed His last breath was the moment life was breathed into us. From the foundations of the earth, it was already paid and already accounted for.

He Can Restore to More Than Before

The wilderness is not something we need a reprieve from; it is something we need rest from. That rest can only come when we fully and completely understand that we are already pardoned. Even in the midst of the waiting, He is working FOR us on our behalf, not against us. Whatever pain we go through, whatever loss we endure, He can restore to more than before and use it for our good and His glory. (Photo via Unsplash)

My friend, the pain and difficulties you are enduring are not being placed upon you to endure alone. They are an invitation into a greater peace than you have ever known. The enemy wants to twist them and have you believe the lie that you are being punished. Jesus wants you to lean in and focus on His eyes, not the waves. He not only holds the storm, but He calls you out on the water and sustains you through it. The only way that we are not completely overwhelmed is to lock eyes and enter a place so intimate it can be uncomfortable. He didn't send the storm to overwhelm us. He allowed it to show us that we can walk WITH Him.

To those who are tired, hurting, and wanting a reprieve, please take the time to allow Holy Spirit to search you like never before. Go deeper. Let every hidden place be uncovered, and let the light of His truth shine in and give rest to your weary soul.
Sometimes, what looks like the plan of the enemy to drown you is actually an invitation from the Lord to walk on water, above every storm, with Him. You don't need a reprieve; He already provided it!
Allow a perspective shift, and come up higher today!
