Dear ElijahStreams Family,
Derene and I are receiving so many exciting updates. Because of you, Ugandans are celebrating what God is doing for them and their villages. Whole communities are rejoicing as clean, fresh water pours out of the ground.
Think about it! This is the very water God placed in the earth at creation. And now He has trusted us, together with you, to find where He put it, to drill into it, and to release it for His children in Africa. For the first time, life-giving water is flowing where there was once only thirst. The Lord wanted a
partnership with His people, and you said yes. You rose to the occasion.
And all of it makes me want to shout praises with them.
Let me tell you. Derene and I talk about this often. We are in awe of the way you give. Honestly, I don't take it lightly for one second. You're the reason we get to celebrate what God is doing.
But then some stories leave me wrestling—stories that grip my heart and won't let go. One of those stories is about a little girl named Grace.
Grace is three years old, but she weighs only 15 pounds. She was brought to a free medical outreach hosted by our friends in Uganda, Show Mercy. The team thought she might not survive the night. Her tiny body was frail, wasted from malnourishment. She should be running, laughing, and learning words. Instead, her life was hanging by a thread.
Here's her backstory. Grace's mother stopped at a random home in the village and asked for a cup of water. When the owner of the home, Juliet, went inside to get it, Grace's mother made a heartbreaking decision. She set Grace down on the dirt floor outside that mud hut and walked away, never to return.
When Mike and Lori shared this with us at ElijahStreams, it gripped me. I don't know what was going through her mother's mind. Maybe she thought that if someone is kind enough to give me water, they might also be kind enough to care for my daughter, since I can't.
But here's what I can't get over. The very thing that led Grace to that doorstep was a request for water. A cup of water changed the course of her life. If God's not speaking through that, I don't know what else to say.
Friends, this is why we must act.
Even after being abandoned, Grace faces the same deadly reality as thousands of children across Uganda. There is no clean water in her village. Even if food is found, dirty water can destroy what little strength her body has left. Without intervention, her story could end before it even begins.
This is why ElijahStreams has committed to
drilling 30 wells every single month in Uganda, in faith. That is $300,000 each month. Impossible in the natural, yes. But I believe God is speaking through stories like Grace's. God's showing us this isn't just about survival. It's about giving these children a future.
