A Creaking Hinge and a Door Swinging Wide Open
As I was praying into August, I kept seeing a vision of a hinge of a door creaking and then the door swinging wide open.
"After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in Heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, 'Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.'" (Revelation 4:1 NIV)
I sensed that what I was seeing right away was an invitation to step into a whole new paradigm of Kingdom and victorious living.
The creaking hinge represented the tension, discomfort, and grief that often comes in seasons of change—the inner resistance to the new and the rusty cogs in us that need fresh oil. Yet, the door swung wide open. The word of the Lord to you here is "There is so much more to come. There is a future and a hope waiting for you!" And for those who have felt stuck, kneeling, begging at the door, carrying the baggage of a past era, this is what the Lord is saying to you: "It's time to leave it all behind and step into this."
Then a quote came to mind that Lou Engle is known for saying: "There are moments in history when a door for massive change opens. Great revolutions for good or for evil occur in the vacuum created by these openings. It is in these times that key men and women, even entire generations, risk everything to become the hinge of history—that pivotal point that determines which way the door will swing."
A Time to Wake Up and Close the Door to Disbelief
So, what if this moment is a macro and micro shift for us, both personally and also in the Church? What if what happens in August affects the outcome of nations for years to come? How will we then approach it? What if what is birthed and released in this month changes the course of history?
What do the prophets say? What do the eagles say? Who will bring forth the word of the Lord and establish it?
What if August is a time for monumental breakthrough in your own life and also in your state and nation? What if it is a hinge month, where our prayers and voices will close the door on the enemy's agenda and open the door to usher Heaven in? (Photo via Unsplash)
As soon as I wrote that last sentence, I heard the passage from Mark 5:40 (NIV), where Jesus was going to pray for the girl who had died, yet He was surrounded by so much disbelief. It says that Jesus had to "put them all out" (those who laughed in unbelief) and shut the door. This speaks loudly on two fronts.
Firstly, what if August is a month of resurrection for those whom the enemy has taken out or taken down? What if it is a month when the Lord is saying over you, "Wake up! Get up! You have been in your sickbed for far too long!"
It's time to shut the door on everything that has been chasing you and lingering around you. The heaviness and anxiety. The fear and foreboding. The words of the critics and narcissists in your life that keep cutting you down. The afflictions, infirmities, and bad reports that are trying to lure you into early death. I hear the Lord saying, "NO MORE! GET UP! Reclaim your voice."
Secondly, what if you have to kick out the voice of disbelief? First in your own head and your own words. Get rid of them. Take them captive. Kick out the voices that keep gaslighting your calling. That's right, close the door. Let me say that again: CLOSE THE DOOR.
A Month to Focus and Step Into a New Level of Intelligence and Discernment
August is a month where you will have to FOCUS! The noise will seem noisier and the loud and disruptive taunts of the enemy will seem louder, but they will either cause you to cower or rise up and exert your voice that shuts up the voice of the enemy!
Goliath, shut your trap! You are a thief and a liar!
This will be a month where you will have to keep your company true and your circle small. A month to step into a whole new level of spiritual intelligence and discernment.
I keep seeing people coming into a mountain-top clearing with the clouds beneath them. It's a place of authority, representing being over, not under anymore.
The Robber Has Been Found and Must Repay!
I believe in the last few years, especially, many have been robbed, but here is where it shifts. August is when the robber is found out and must repay.
A Time to Advance Boldly
I keep hearing that it's going to be a month to advance boldly and take risks for the Kingdom. Playing it safe won't be the vehicle. Moving mountains happens through an offensive lifestyle of prayer and action, and it's a moment like Mathew 11:12: "From the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it" (NIV).
Partner with the Word and Break Ties with the Enemy's Lies
August is going to make you where the enemy tried to break you. But you are going to have to partner with the word of the Lord and break ties with any word of the enemy that you have been agreeing with. Shake it off, Church! Bringing Forth the Seed of Righteousness
I feel so strongly that this month will birth and bring forth the seed of righteousness that will set nations back on track. It may look small at first, but watch as slowly but surely their course is corrected. It will be a month of much shaking in governmental realms and in the natural.
I keep seeing policies and agendas on a desk marked "August 2025," but they carry death and destruction. The Lord says, "Where are My intercessors? Where are My prophets?"
The door is closing on the years of "kindergarten church," and we must take back the courts and present the blood of Jesus!
"They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death." (Revelation 12:11 NIV)
Where Waiting and Wandering Turn Into Hot Coals
Lastly, I believe August is a month where waiting and wandering turn into hot coals. So many have been in a waiting period because of needed healing. Trauma from the past has needed to be broken; tiredness and weariness have needed to be dealt with. But many have been on hold—in a pause—with no appetite for anything, even Kingdom. But there's a fresh unction and message coming... It will begin to bubble forth in August—a weighty, authoritative roar and prophetic fire that have come from your dark night season and battlefield.
So, get ready, Church. August will be a month of a good kind of change—rapid movement, taking the keys back from the enemy, and stepping through the door.
