A Prayer Revival
The Lord told me that a prayer revival is about to burst forth in this nation. I didn't see it as a national revival in one locality, church, or region, but rather as something erupting in multiple territories simultaneously. The Lord used the phrase "prayer revival," not "prayer movement."
Over the past century, America has seen various prayer movements—many of them powerful and catalytic. These movements typically involved leaders stirring up the spirit of prayer through teaching, scheduling strategic gatherings, and emphasizing the importance of intercession. They've served as a foundation for the charismatic movement and the Apostolic-Prophetic Reformation that we are now living in. But what I saw was different. These prayer revivals were more spontaneous and combustible.
Prayer on Fire!
In a brief vision, I saw huge blue flames fall, igniting a passionate, irresistible desire to pray in various regions.
Do you know what happened when the fire of God fell from Heaven in Acts 2? There was a spontaneous combustion of prayer, ushering in a new dimension of spiritual language and intensity.
"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." (Acts 2:1–4 KJV, emphasis added)
God rewarded their diligence in prayer with a new level of prayer and power! Notice, they weren't just sitting around waiting for fire to fall. They were actively pursuing the heart and will of God. Though Jesus had promised in Acts 1 that the Holy Spirit would be poured out, I believe they were still caught off guard by how suddenly and dramatically everything shifted in the place of prayer. That's what happens when revival fire hits—a spiritual explosion takes place. There is power in the combustion! (Photo via Unsplash)
A New Dimension of Prayer and Power
This new dimension of prayer and power birthed a spontaneous revival. The apostles didn't plan or schedule a meeting; they simply stood up under the fire of God, and thousands were saved in a single day. Many of those thousands surely caught the fire and were activated into deep, passionate prayer lives, fueling the growth and multiplication of the Church.
One of the most evident manifestations released with this fire was boldness. Think of the apostle Peter. Remember, this was the same Peter who had recently denied Jesus three times. Yet now he stood publicly, proclaiming Jesus as Lord. The fire of God on his life, paired with the boldness of the Spirit, brought conviction to hearts and mass repentance.
The Spirit of Grace and Supplications Being Poured Out
Back to the vision: I saw churches and spaces packed with people who came specifically to pray. It wasn't about long teachings on prayer; it was actual prayer. In many modern prayer meetings, one leader prays while others follow quietly from their seats. But in this vision, the entire room was caught up in unified, intense intercession. Of course, there were leaders present, but the intensity and longevity of prayer overwhelmed the entire space.
I saw people coming to church in droves, not for a concert or conference but to pray.
"My house shall be called a house of prayer." (Matthew 21:13 NKJV)
The Old Testament also speaks of this outpouring: "I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications" (Zechariah 12:10 KJV).
Merriam-Webster defines supplicate as "to ask for earnestly and humbly." There is a fire, an anointing, that God can pour upon a people that causes the spirit of prayer and intercession to consume them. When this happens, they begin to contend for the purposes of God to be manifested in the earth.
Mantles of Prayer
The Lord also showed me that this prayer revival will be sparked by men and women entrusted with a mantle of prayer. We've prophesied the emergence of the prophetic and apostolic mantles, and rightly so. These mantles have come into prominence over the past few decades. But now, in this season, prayer mantles are arising. Some will receive a special grace for intercession.
I remember, years ago, spending hours in prayer felt completely natural. My friends used to jokingly call me "The Praying Mantis"—a play on words! But truly, there is such a thing as the spirit of grace and supplication resting upon a life. (Photo via Unsplash)
One example of this was a young man named Evan Roberts. From age eleven to twenty-three, he worked in the coal mines of Wales—a grueling job. Yet even there, he could be found praying in the mines and would often pray through the night as if caught up in another dimension.
His cries for revival broke through in 1904. From 1904–1905, Wales was engulfed in a spiritual fire, a national revival of prayer and repentance. Over 100,000 souls came to Christ! Americans wrote letters to Wales, asking for prayer that the same revival would fall in the United States. God heard those prayers and, shortly after, the Azusa Street Revival broke out in America. The catalyst for all of it? The mantle of prayer that fell on one young man's life. Wow.
Decree:
Lord God, we decree that there is a stirring of prayer in this nation and in the nations of the world! We declare, in Jesus' name, that mantles of supernatural prayer grace are falling upon those appointed and anointed to carry this burden. We ask that these individuals be activated to fan the flames of this new prayer revival and lead churches and regions into new dimensions in You.
Father, we pray that those who have become lethargic and stagnant would receive a fresh wind of the Spirit—one that causes them to grab hold of the Spirit of grace and supplication spoken of by the prophet Zechariah, in Jesus' name!
