Never Quit Praying
Intercessors, it's the hour to take watch and actively keep on praying. Have you felt weary, tired, or listless in prayer? There's a guise of the enemy to make you feel like your prayers are not availing much. You've discerned the will of our Father, and you are on the right track as you pray God's decrees and declarations upon the earth. Prayer produces a potent force—a force from Heaven that Hell can never reckon with. Never quit praying.
I hear our Father say, "Encourage them, sweet daughter. Encourage them and remind them that I hear. I HEAR. I hear their pleas for mercy upon the faces that they see amidst the darkness. I hear their cries for salvation—salvation for their neighbors, their friends, their children, and their spouses. I hear their silent tears dripping to the ground, one by one, as they bow low and lay prostrate before Me. Oh, intercessors, My intercessors. You are heard."
Blazing Tongues of Intercession
A few months ago, at a revival meeting, a visiting pastor bowed low and interceded in deep awe and reverence during the altar call. The Lord halted me during the ministry time to see in the spirit the effect of her prayers. As she interceded, a purity flowed forth, altering the atmosphere and drawing Heaven to burst upon the earth in radiant rays of splendor.
I saw in the spirit, dancing above her head, what appeared to be tongues of fire—iridescent flames. Blue, purple, white, orange, and red colors merging and melding together, ablaze, danced above her head as she interceded and wept before our King of Kings.
Before my eyes, the flames started forming images above her. A dove hovered above the flames. A scene played out above her head, then ascended to Heaven. Images upon images of her prayers going forth appeared in the holy flames.
I had never seen anything quite like it. The holy flames of intercession were mesmerizing.
I bowed down across the altar and prayed that the Lord's fire would dance upon my prayers, too. I prayed that this sort of fervent intercession would be lit aflame in my heart and in others', just like hers.
"Go encourage her," God whispered to my heart.
I waited until her intercession ceased (although I'm sure it never really did). As she sat down next to her husband, I shared my vision with her. She wept and began to share about some weariness she had been facing. She wasn't sure if her prayers were going anywhere. She had felt discouraged, dry, and weary from waiting to see the fulfillment of what the Lord had promised her, waiting to see the revival that God had declared over her region. Yet she had resolved to keep praying, and although she was tired, she hadn't lost heart. Her prayers had moved to guttural groans, trusting still in the Lord and declaring what was not yet seen. "He hears," I told her. Amidst other prophetic words, I encouraged her, "You're setting ablaze through the Spirit more than your eyes can see."
Encouragement for the Weary
I wonder if you've been feeling a bit like how she had been feeling? Spending years—decades even—declaring faithfully, interceding privately, and groaning in the Spirit just as the Lord has called you to do. The flames of your prayers may be invisible, but they're there—blazing, hot, and refining. In Jesus' name, I now declare over you, "You're setting ablaze through the Spirit more than your eyes can see."
I hear God say, "Don't give up! Never quit! Don't think for a moment that I don't hear and that I don't incline my ear to your whispers and the groanings of My Spirit.
"I've searched and searched, and My Spirit resides, broods over, and flows through intercessors in measures immeasurable. See, I AM with you! I'm lighting ablaze your prayers! Your prayers are potent, eradicating darkness and bringing to light what must be revealed.
"Your prayers are palpable, shifting atmospheres and conquering territories for My name. Take heart! Don't quit! You ought always to pray and never lose heart. Just wait. Wait until you see the fulfillment of your obedience in offering yourself to My Spirit and My will in travailing prayer."
You Are Refined in Humility
Perhaps you've been questioning if your prayers are too "outlandish"; if what you sense God leading you to pray for may be a bit "too much," "too extraordinary," "too big"?
Here's the truth: there's no such thing. If you've sought the Lord in His Word and have discerned His will through prayer, His Spirit is leading you to declare to those mountain assignments on behalf of His name.
"I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!' and does not doubt in his heart [in God's unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God's will]." Right now, in Jesus' name, the Lord is dismantling the gripping fear of false humility over your prayers. He sees the purity of your heart; you have no need to question what is already deemed pure before the Lord.
I hear the Lord encouraging those intercessors who are upright in heart, "Humility clothes you, sons and daughters who are My intercessors. Humbleness is a strength; it's your yoke. I move freely amidst your prostrate humility. Your prayers aren't a show; they are a show of My strength, a demonstration of passion unto My name. Many don't understand the 'wild' commission I've placed upon you... but you do. So go. Go into your secret place with Me and pray, pray, pray. My will is revealed unto you, sons and daughters. Will you partner with Me to pray it through?"
May Your Intercession Blaze Forth!
May your intercession blaze forth! May persistence and reverence mark your intercession before our God. May you be encouraged that He hears, acts, and moves as you yield yourself to intercede His will.
"[You] ought always to pray and not lose heart." (Luke 18:1 NKJV, brackets mine)
Imagine the flames of the generations who are humbly prostrate before the Lord, their prayers dancing in the flames of His Spirit, ascending like incense unto our Father. Indeed, the flame of intercession blazes forth!
