Read This Today

     Hello ElijahStreams Family,

     One morning, as I sat at my desk, an email stopped me in my tracks. It was from Lori Salley. She and her husband, Mike, are founders of Show Mercy in Uganda and oversee our ElijahStreams water projects.

Her words gripped me:

     

Phionah is a mother of four living children, but her family will never be whole again. Back in December 2014, her son, Lawrence, drowned in the small watering hole where they have to collect their water. He was only eight years old. Can you imagine? A little boy, excited about Christmas, went to fetch water so they could prepare for the holiday... and he never came back. They found his body later that day and had to bury him on Christmas Day. She told us, "We have no other choice. There is no other water source in our village." Steve, they call that place "the boys' swallower" because it's so dangerous. It's deep, surrounded by forest, and has taken other lives too. But it's their only option. As I thought about Phionah's story, I couldn't shake the image of that watering hole – how unbearable it must be for her to drink from the same water that took her son's life. She described it as "bitter in every sense of the word." Yet she has no choice. Her children have no choice. Every trip to that place fills her with dread. She said, "Every time we go there, my heart pounds with fear. I've already lost one child – I can't bear the thought of losing another." Steve, there are so many stories like this. We have to keep helping these people.

     This mission is personal to me and Derene. Over 37 years ago, God spoke to me – "Well Ministries." I know what we're doing TOGETHER is exactly what He meant. And the time is NOW.

     This isn't just about clean water – it's about hope, life, and showing the love of Jesus to families like Phionah's. I believe you feel this, too. One day, I want us all to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
