Years ago, I was praying upstairs in my house for a prolonged period of time. I came downstairs a bit discouraged because God had not spoken to me or revealed anything during my prayer time. Fortunately, my wife had fallen asleep on the couch for a short twenty-minute nap. Upon wakening, she shared three detailed dreams that God had given her during that brief rest. At first, I felt somewhat jealous, but I soon realized that God had blessed me not only with a wonderful wife but also with a precious prophetic gift in the person of Jessica Edmonds.
Over the years, Jessica has become a secret weapon for our ministry and a blessing to many leaders and Believers. God has gifted her with practical wisdom, the spirit of counsel, and a remarkable ability to interpret prophetic dreams. I have found her prophetic insights, whether for me or others, to always be reliable and accurate. Her deep desire is for individuals to experience the Father's heart and His great love for them as His sons and daughters.

God Dreams Bring Healing for Your Soul
The God who hung the heavens and fashioned the seas is a God who loves to speak to His children. He speaks and sometimes it seems as loud as thunder, while other times only a gentle whisper. In these quieter instances, and with our very busy lives, it may be easy to overlook and miss Him speaking, and that is why many times the Lord will use dreams to convey messages.
In my own walk with the Lord, He has utilized the avenue of dreams in the night frequently to speak and share wisdom and direction. Every major and significant occurrence in my life has first been prefaced with a dream that has given me insight and revelation into situations that have set the course for how the Lord will be leading me in that season.
In my junior year of college, I found myself wounded deeply in my soul from the death of my identical twin sister. Although she died nine years prior, the pain was so much at the surface that her passing still felt as if it had happened yesterday.
It was in a dream where Jesus reached forth His hand to me and offered me healing for my soul. A Jesus that I had not even yet invited into my heart through salvation saw me in my grief, and loved me enough to speak to me in a dream and give me a way out from the heaviness and sadness.

After that dream, alone in my bedroom, I decided to "try" God and see if He really could take away the immense amount of pain that I was feeling. He's faithful from generation to generation. Not only did God take away the pain, but He also started to share more dreams that began to show me what He had for my future and the things He had planned for my life, which set the ball rolling for even more dreams.
Dreams of the Future
Upon meeting my husband Demontae, I had dream after dream after dream about him that were all futuristic and portrayed us raising kids together, traveling, and doing ministry. God was essentially saying to me, repeatedly, that this man was a God-ordained part of my future. Reservations and fears of marriage melted away as the Lord continued to give me dreams showing me that my heart would be safe with this man that He had given me.
Once we were wed, the dreams continued, showing things about our future children, even down to what we should name them, what they would be called to do, and who they would marry.
He Wants to Use Dreams in Your Life
I'm so very thankful that God speaks in the night and we don't have to blindly go about this life. We can seek Him in prayer, and He will be faithful to show us things to come. Through a dream He brought me to salvation and has continued to draw me closer to Himself ever since.
Just as God has used dreams significantly in my life, I know that He's desiring to do the same (if not more) in yours. While you're sleeping and your mind is at rest, He wants to go to work on your behalf, warning you, helping you, encouraging you, and instructing you.
It is amazing to think that the God of all creation wants to speak to us, and that if we miss it while we're awake, He's so faithful to speak while we sleep.

Jessica Edmonds is a native of Florida and current resident of Georgia, where she mentors several women in the areas of holistic living, motherhood, marriage, and ministry. She is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Arts and double major in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She earned her Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from the Robertson School of Government at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.
