Christa writes an amazing word about our time of blooming in the Lord in her recent article as she offers us this word of the Lord:
"My people are going into a pruning and purging season to prepare them for the days ahead. Many are experiencing the momentary affliction that comes as I cut away what is hindering them from their maximum growth and potential. I am also freshly circumcising hearts in this season who have grown hard as a result of spiritual warfare, false accusations, hope deferred and the cares of life."

Crossing over into September this year, the Lord reminded me of a season of preparation I went through with Him a number of years ago. I believe the season I walked through is a word for the Body of Christ today.
I was in a time where I felt the call of God so big it was as if I was carrying a 14-pound baby and I didn't know how or when to give birth. At the time, I was a full-time hairstylist struggling to balance work, life, church and relationships. I was desperate for revival and for a community that was as passionate as I was to see the greater works of the Spirit.
Not only was I carrying this heavy calling, but I was also in a process of taking inventory of my heart and character so that when the time was right, I would be able to steward whatever ministry God had impregnated my spirit with in a way that would rightly represent Jesus, making Him irresistible to the lost. I just wanted to introduce people to His love, but in order to do that I had to repent of all the ways I did not reflect His love well, which required MUCH repentance. (Photo via Unsplash)
Looking at all the sin, shortcomings and selfishness in my life was very humbling and painful. The more I saw my true heart motives through examining the fruit of my life compared to Christ in Scripture, the more rotten I felt. Have you ever felt that way? I feel like there are many of us in the Body of Christ who are in the same place, saying, "God, I stink! I stink as a parent. I stink as a spouse. I just stink!" If that has been you, I want to encourage you: God is making room for you to bloom!
Pruning the Garden of Our Hearts
I want to share a vision that the Lord gave me for you. I saw Jesus dressed as a gardener with large pruning shears which represented the Bible. He was tending to a beautiful rose bush that had grown out of control. There were wild branches that had been eaten up by locusts and other pests – hardly alive but taking nutrients away from the branches that were thriving with vibrant blossoms.
Jesus lovingly and strategically snipped off unfruitful branches here and there, tossing them into a firewood pile. I watched Jesus lean in to smell the roses with deep breaths that obviously brought Him great pleasure. That's when the smell of this rose bush hit me like a wave of the most fragrant perfume I had ever smelled before! It almost knocked me over and was so strong I could taste the sweetness of it on my tongue!
He then turned and spoke to me, "My people are going into a pruning and purging season to prepare them for the days ahead. "As My remnant surrenders to the process, they will experience a clearing away of all the clutter, demonic chatter, parasitic relationships, unfruitful thoughts and behavior patters, and the spirit of heaviness that has been weighing them down.
"I am cutting ungodly soul ties with unhealthy people who have been a 'drain' on them mentality, emotionally, physically and spiritually, so that new, symbiotic, mutually life-giving relationships can blossom. I am cutting away many of the last season's assignments and I am making room for new plans and purposes to be birthed; for the new growth to spring forth; and for, over all, more fruitfulness in their lives. You Are Growing!
"I am near to My people in this pruning season, and I desire greatly for all to draw near to Me and pull strength from the power of My Spirit working in them. Then their roots will go down deep into My love, making them unmovable and unshakable. They will see that they are My rose – the theme of My love song! Their surrendered life is a fragrant perfume and a sweet smelling sacrifice to Me.
"I am removing and restoring everywhere the locust and the cankerworm devoured. It will be as if they were never there! Come to Me and allow Me to prune and purge what is stunting your growth. Allow Me to make room for your true calling to super bloom! You don't stink. You are just growing!"
