In Israel, at least once every minute, someone dials 101 |
101 is the telephone number for Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's ambulance, blood-services, and disaster-relief organization.
Which means that more than 600,000 times a year, MDA's highly trained first-responders are rapidly dispatched to provide urgent medical care for the nation's 8.5 million residents — Jews, Arabs, Druze, Christians, and others.
Most of MDA's 14,000 first-responders are highly trained volunteers who often put their own lives at risk as they help people in critical need. These dedicated men and women are real-life heroes — and some of their stories are amazing.
Watch this short video of a mother as she shares her inspiring story of how Magen David Adom first-responders saved her young son after he was attacked by terrorists in Israel. |
