Rosh Hashanah is the Hebraic new year on God's calendar. It is a time of great awakening. It is a time to blast the shofar, signifying new beginnings and alerting us to pay attention to the voice of God.
As the new year starts at Rosh Hashanah, the Spirit of God...
• Awakens your soul
• Encourages you to worship
• Releases divine instruction
• Calls you to blast the shofar
We are to hearken to His voice, paying close attention to the revelatory words and instructions that the Holy Spirit speaks during this appointed time.
Psalm 95:6-11 says:
"Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.
"Today, if you will hear His voice: 'Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, as in the day of trial in the wilderness, when your fathers tested Me; they tried Me, though they saw My work. For forty years I was grieved with that generation, and said, "It is a people who go astray in their hearts, and they do not know My ways." So I swore in My wrath, "They shall not enter My rest."'"
As we prepare to enter the new year, let us blast the shofar, realigning our souls so that we hear His divine voice of instruction as we move into new levels of faith.

As a result, we will be anointed with oil and given new mantles of authority and operation, preparing us for the year ahead. You see, the Father speaks to prepare you for what is to come. He speaks to protect you from what will attack.
Ephesians 6 explains that we are to put on spiritual armor because there are demonic forces at work. The closer we get to the return of our King, the more intense these attacks will be. Therefore, we must blast the shofar and put God into remembrance of His Word.
"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins. Put Me in remembrance; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted." (Isaiah 43:25-26)
Why Blast the Shofar at Rosh Hashanah?
There is a mystery in the shofar blast. The sounding of the shofar, or trumpet, is first mentioned in Exodus 19:16:
"Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled."
A Mystery Revealed
The sound of the trumpet, or the blast of the shofar, is the voice of God. Rosh Hashanah is when God the Father reveals Himself through the Spirit, giving life, knowledge, wisdom, strength, and power for the year ahead. The blast of the shofar represents God's voice, announcing His presence. Rosh Hashanah is the appointed time of revelation and awakening. You can begin to see why shofars are blown during this holy day. The trumpet sounding clears the atmosphere for the voice of the Father to reach you.
"Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 'Speak to the children of Israel, saying: "In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord."'" (Leviticus 23:24-25)
God is actually instructing us to blast the shofar and cry out to Him. Blasting allows you experience in the physical realm what is happening in the spiritual realm.
"He shall cry to Me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.'" (Psalm 89:26)
The Hebrew Letters for Shofar
• Sheen (or Shin) means supernatural victory, resurrection, divinely appointed time, promise.
• Vav means to join together, seal, or secure two sides that have been separated.
• Pey means to speak, mouth.
• Reysh (or Resh) means the head, highest, most important, master.

During Rosh Hashanah, blast the shofar and speak to the Father, your Master. He wants to meet with you, securing and sealing you for a supernatural victory in the year ahead. We encourage you to pray for your mind and heart to be open to discerning the voice of your Father. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you eyes to see and the words to speak life, wisdom, understanding and power in the new year. He has great plans for you. And He is willing and ready to anoint you with new oil, and equip you in your Kingdom calling.
