"Receive His Fresh Bread! It's a Tipping Point Moment"

Helen Calder, Melbourne, Australia

Last week, a friend left fresh, home-baked bread on our doorstep. It was a lovely gift, and an unusual one! I can't remember this ever happening to my husband Malcolm and me before. As that fresh loaf of bread sat on our kitchen counter, I remembered a prophetic word I shared with a church just a few days earlier: "God has fresh bread for you. There is bread in the 'House of Bread' again. It's a tipping point moment! Through that gift of bread, I heard the Holy Spirit say, 'Pay attention! This message is still alive!'"

The Tipping Point of the Kingdom

If you feel hidden right now, know that you are hidden with a purpose. God is at work! He is doing something supernatural and what will emerge is miraculous.

Jesus told a remarkable parable that spoke of this: "...The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough" (Matt. 13:33 NIV). The Greek word for "mixed" translates to "egkrypto," meaning "to concealed in something."

In this parable (just as in Jesus' previous parable of the mustard seed) we have something that starts small. It is sown into invisibility, but it has power—it has the capacity to grow and become great. Then comes the tipping point moment! That which has been hidden is revealed. Growth, which has been concealed, becomes noticeable.

The Kingdom Paradox

"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin..." (Zech. 4:10 NLT) (Photo via Public Domain Pictures)

Jesus' use of yeast as a metaphor here is offbeat! It stands out. Yeast, or leaven, consistently symbolizes evil in the Bible (leaven is seen as a symbol of hypocrisy (Luke 12:1), malice and wickedness (1 Cor. 5:8) and false teaching (Gal. 5:9). Also see the Old Testament—leaven is forbidden from Passover and holy offerings). And yet, in this one place, Jesus likens the Kingdom to leaven. Why? Jesus is speaking of the paradox of the Kingdom.

God's Word, and work, may have small beginnings; but like the yeast, the very nature of the Kingdom's DNA is to multiply and grow.

The House of Bread

There are times when the outcome of a word from God seems to be held up. That word may be hidden, but like the yeast, or the mustard seed, it is alive and active. Take Bethlehem for example. The name "Bethlehem" means "House of Bread," and the town's original name, Ephrathah, means "fruitful." In the Bible, a God-given name speaks to identity and destiny. "House of Bread," was not only descriptive, it was also prophetic. Bethlehem was to be a place of divine destiny—the future birthplace of King David, and of Jesus Christ; one of Whose names is "The Bread of Life."

Yet for a short season, as the book of Ruth opened, there was no bread in the "House of Bread." There was a famine in the place that was named "fruitful." It was a contradiction. Perhaps you can relate to this today. Maybe you have been saying, "God, You gave me a dream, a destiny, a calling! I had a prophetic word, an encounter with You, a Scripture. And yet right now, it seems as though the opposite is taking place! I am living in a contradiction!"

The Launching Place of Destiny

This is what I believe the Lord is highlighting to us right now: Throughout that long period of famine, whenever anyone said the name "Bethlehem," they were prophesying, "House of bread...House of Bread!"

Now is the time to prophesy a word of God's goodness over your life, church, family and region—to remember the promises and words of the past. Declare them, again, in the face of everything that says otherwise. For God's word, His promise to you, holds power! Though for a season its reality may be hidden, it is alive and at work. And what God has declared will come to pass.

There came a day when a woman called Naomi "...heard in the country of Moab that the Lord had visited His people by giving them bread" (Ruth 1:6 NKJV). This was a tipping point moment. (Photo via Pixabay)

If you can relate to this story, know that in your situation, God's word—His Kingdom—is at work. And just as it happened with Naomi, your place of loss will become your launching place of destiny.

Victory will Emerge

What does "fresh bread" mean for you today? It may be supply, comfort, freedom or healing. It could be the reawakening of a promise, or a word of destiny. I love that the name of our state in Australia is Victoria. The name means "victory" or "conqueror." Yet right now, we are struggling. COVID-19 has brought sudden loss and hardship. But I believe that no matter what we are going through right now, victory is going through it, and victory will emerge.

"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." (Rom. 8:37 NKJV)

So, call out what He has declared. As you do, remember it's a tipping point moment. This is the time of fresh bread.
