"The Threefold Cord of Your Decree: Power, Faith and Confession"
Jesse Shamp, Nashville, TN

The Lord gave me a dream recently regarding the Body of Christ. In this dream, I was on my way to a church to minister, but I had forgotten to bring my notes! My mind was totally blank, and as I was praying about what to minister on, the Lord began to speak to me about how the Church needed to be reminded about the power of the decree, faith and confession. The Lord began to show me how the decree, faith, and confession are all connected as one cord.

"...A threefold cord is not quickly broken." (Ecc. 4:12 AMPC)

The Lord began to reveal to me that a threefold cord is not easily broken. Together, the power of the decree, faith and confession create a threefold cord, each a different strand. All three are stronger together than they are separately. They make up a strong rope which is unbreakable. A decree is powerful on its own—faith is powerful alone, and so is your confession. Yet, when they become harmonious with one another, it creates a strength which the enemy simply cannot break! We must have faith connected to our decrees. Then, once we release the decree, we must hold to that confession. In other words, stand in agreement with what was spoken! Hold your confession! Stand firm on what you have spoken and do not be moved off of it, because what you have spoken will come to fruition!

"The Apostle of Our Profession"

In my dream, I then began to read a verse out of the book of Hebrews. "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; who was faithful to Him that appointed Him, as also Moses was faithful in all His house" (Heb. 3:1-2).

The word "profession" in the Greek means: an agreement; terms of surrender; confession.

What does it mean when it says that Jesus is the "Apostle of our profession"? It means that we walk in agreement with Him, because He is the very living Word! His promises belong to us. It means that His banner over us truly is love (Solomon 2:4). This means that we come into agreement with God's Word through faith and what we speak. Jesus is our Apostle and High Priest; He stands with us on the promises of His Word and desires for us to step fully into them.

A confession is something we believe, something that we have spoken out of the mouth — something spoken with authority! It is similar to a decree. We experienced salvation by believing in our hearts and confessing out of our mouth that Jesus is Lord (Rom. 10:9). This is the recipe of faith and that which brings about the manifestation of God's promises in our lives.

Why is it so important that once we release the decree, that we guard what we have spoken? It's because the enemy longs to steal your harvest. He does not want what you have spoken in authority to become a reality.

"For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks" (Luke 6:45). Something powerful happens when the goodness of God overflows out of our hearts. We begin to decree and take authority in the Spirit realm! It's time to release the decree. It's time that we begin to speak and see the blessings of God overflow around us. Let it be in our hearts this day, that we would be so bold to declare: "On Earth as it is in Heaven!"

The Power of the Decree

The apostle Peter said, "If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God" (1 Peter 4:11 KJV). The word "oracle" when translated in Greek means an utterance of God. When we begin to release the decree, we suddenly become the mouthpiece of God! "The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon" (Ps. 29:4-5 KJV).

When we agree with Heaven, and align with Heaven in our speech, our voice becomes intertwined with the Lord's voice. When we speak under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and with authority, suddenly change and breakthrough are released!

The Bible says to decree a thing, and it shall be established (Job 22:28). When you speak and release a decree, your words carry power, and it establishes something in the spirit realm! What will you decree to happen in your life in 2019? What will you dare to believe God for?

One word spoken with authority, under the anointing, is worth more than 10,000 empty words! Your words are not empty but they are full of God's blessing; those words are full of God's power, and will produce change in your life!

Faith That Propels: Are the Words You Speak in Line with God's Heart?

"Words are the most powerful thing in the universe..." (Charles Capps)

What we speak now creates our tomorrow and eventually births our present state.

I once attended a business seminar with my wife, Amy. I was surprised when the man that hosted this meeting shared about how he broke out of a situation of extreme poverty and fulfilled his dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur and millionaire, simply by speaking his future into being! I am aware that many successful people in the world do not believe in Jesus as their personal Savior. Yet, they are aware that their words create something. They understand that words produce positive or negative results. These are Kingdom principles that they have been adopted into the business world. How much more do our words create power and frame our future as Christians? This is part of our inheritance as Believers!

Jesus illustrated the power of our words as Believers when He spoke to the fig tree. "And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, He was hungry: and seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, He came, if haply He might find anything thereon: and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, 'No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever.' And His disciples heard it." (Mark 11:12-14 KJV).

"And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto Him, 'Master, behold, the fig tree which Thou cursedst is withered away'" (Mark 11:20-21 KJV). Afterwards, His disciples saw how the fig tree died as a result of what Jesus spoke. He then said this confidently to them: "Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, 'Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea'; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith" (Mark 11:22-23 KJV).

Jesus was demonstrating the power of the Believer's words, and that we have the same authority and power to speak those things that are not as though they are (Rom. 4:17).

David said in the Psalms, "I had fainted, unless I had BELIEVED to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, on the Lord" (Ps. 27:13-14 KJV). In the midst of the storm, David believed to see the goodness of God, despite what he was seeing around him. He was looking beyond his present circumstance. He was seeing into another day and pulling it into the now!

What will be your decree this year? What will be the fruit of what you will speak into existence? I pray that every limitation would be broken off of your life, your ministry, your business in the name of Jesus! I declare a new season to come forth in your life this year. May the abundance of blessing and anointing be upon you in the mighty name of Jesus! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
